Job description

About BizPort

BizPort is the AI-powered marketplace to buy and sell businesses - think software, DTC brands, and agencies. We build technology to make buying and selling businesses simple, and our mission is to bring transparency, speed, and trust to SMB acquisitions. BizPort is a bootstrapped, AI-first remote startup, and we're here to disrupt the trillion dollar M&A market.

Our co-founders, Kyle and Frank, spent most of their careers in tech startups, leading M&A at OpenStore and buying and selling their own small businesses. We've led M&A transactions on both sides of the table, and we were inspired by how convoluted and painful the process is from a founder perspective. Now, we're here to change that.

We're building the business development function from the ground up, and we're looking for someone who wants to be the driving force behind it.

The Role

The Marketplace Lead, Software owns the growth, quality, and success of the SaaS vertical on BizPort. This includes attracting SaaS founders to list their businesses, supporting them through the listing process, driving buyer engagement, and shaping the category strategy.

This is a marketplace leadership role — not a broker or advisor position. You will build scalable systems, content, partnerships, and workflows that enable sellers and buyers. This will be an exciting and diverse role, where your responsibilities will vary depending on the business need.

Scope

  1. Supply Acquisition (Sellers)
  • Attract and activate high-quality SaaS sellers ($500k–$10M revenue)
  • Build outreach, content, and partnership pipelines to drive consistent listings
  • Guide sellers through listing readiness and data preparation
  • Improve listing quality, transparency, and completeness
  1. Demand Activation (Buyers)
  • Engage operator/buyer communities, micro-PE, and SaaS-focused funds
  • Support buyer discovery through curated updates, alerts, and category insights
  • Improve match rates and buyer activity within the SaaS vertical
  1. Category Leadership
  • Own SaaS market insights, multiples, KPIs, and valuation frameworks
  • Represent BizPort within the SaaS founder ecosystem
  • Partner with product to improve listing flows, onboarding, and category pages
  • Develop scalable playbooks and content for SaaS sellers and buyers

Job Requirements

Must-have

  • Experience in online business marketplaces, SaaS M&A, micro-PE, or startup ecosystems
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models, metrics, and acquisition drivers
  • Comfortable with financial statements, SDE/EBITDA concepts, ARR/Churn/CAC metrics
  • Dense existing network of SaaS founders, operators, micro-PE funds, and partners

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience founding and/or selling a SaaS business
  • Familiarity with basic valuation modeling

Why work at biz-port.com

  • High Ownership & Impact: As a small, early-stage startup, every employee has outsized responsibility. The "Founding Business Development Lead" role involves building the entire function from scratch.
  • Direct Deal Exposure: Employees get to see the full lifecycle of deals, not just the top of the funnel.
  • Flexibility: Fully remote-first and results-oriented, focusing on output rather than hours worked.
  • Meaningful Work: The process helps founders who have spent years building their businesses find the right exit.
  • Strong Compensation Model: Includes base salary, direct commission on sourced deals (high upside given the 6% fee on average $5M+ deals), and meaningful equity. The equity is protected from dilution as the company is bootstrapped.
  • Engineering / Tech Culture: Described as an "AI-first remote startup," suggesting a modern, tech-forward environment.
