Title: Material Handler - Fabrication
Report To: Manufacturing Manager

Position Summary: The Material Handler plays a critical role in supporting fabrication operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and safe movement of raw materials, components, and finished goods. This position works closely with production teams, inventory control, and logistics to maintain optimal material flow and minimize downtime.
General Responsibilities: Material Movement & Staging Transport raw materials, parts, and assemblies to designated fabrication workstations Stage materials according to production schedules and routing sheets Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely Inventory & Documentation Perform cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies Tag, label, and document material transactions using ERP or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) Maintain accurate records of incoming and outgoing materials Workflow Support Collaborate with fabrication leads to anticipate material needs Assist in kitting jobs based on BOMs and routing requirements Monitor material usage and report shortages or excesses Quality & Safety Inspect materials for damage or defects before delivery to fabrication Follow all safety protocols and PPE requirements Support 5S and lean manufacturing initiatives in material storage areas
Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred 1–3 years of experience in material handling within a manufacturing or fabrication environment Familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) Ability to read and interpret work orders, BOMs, and routing sheets Forklift certification a plus
Key Competencies: Basic understanding of fabrication processes (e.g., welding, cutting, machining) Experience with barcode scanning and digital inventory tools Strong organizational and time management skills Able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and focus Ability to lift to 50 lbs
