Materials Manager at Hut 8 (Corpus Christi, TX)

Hut 8· Corpus Christi, TX·

Job description

ABOUT HUT 8

Imagine the ultimate destination for those who want to work at the cutting edge of technology, energy, and infrastructure. Hut 8 is on a mission to build and operate some of the world’s largest data centers for next-generation computing workloads, including AI, Colocation, Cloud, and Bitcoin Mining. We are proud to offer interesting and challenging opportunities for individuals who want to build teams, solve problems, and make an impact from day one. If you’re an ambitious individual looking for a career that is as rewarding as it is challenging, you’ve come to the right place.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Materials Manager manages on-site material receiving, laydown, storage, and inventory control for a data center build, ensuring material availability aligns with the installation schedule. This is a boots-on-the-ground ownership role: if the field is waiting on material that's already on site but can't be found, that's the failure this role exists to prevent.

Some of the key responsibilities you should expect are the following:

Receiving & Inspection

Run the site receiving operation: delivery scheduling and gate coordination, unloading and inspection, OS&D documentation with photos, and same-day receiving records against POs. Coordinate closely with the Logistics & Expediting Manager on inbound major equipment and with vendors on discrepancies.

Laydown, Warehouse & Preservation

Manage laydown yards, warehouse space, and climate-controlled storage with a documented location system. Enforce OEM preservation and maintenance requirements for stored major equipment - transformer nitrogen/oil checks, generator block heaters and rotation, VFD and electronics climate requirements - with logged compliance.

Inventory Control

Maintain accurate inventory records tied to storage locations; run cycle counts; reconcile physical inventory against POs, BOMs, and issue records; and report shortages against upcoming installation needs before they become field delays.

Material Issue & Returns

Run a disciplined material issue process to trade partners - requisitions, staging, sign-out accountability - and manage returns, surplus, and attrition tracking.

Schedule Alignment

Work the three-week lookahead with superintendents and the planner: verify material readiness for upcoming work fronts, flag at-risk items, and stage material to work areas ahead of need.

Site Coordination & Safety

Coordinate crane and forklift resources for material moves, keep laydown areas safe and organized, and support site logistics planning as the project density increases.

ABOUT YOU

  • What we're looking for:
  • 5+ years in site materials management, warehousing, or field logistics on industrial, power, or data center construction projects.
  • Direct experience receiving and storing major electrical/mechanical equipment, including OEM preservation requirements.
  • Strong inventory-control discipline: location systems, cycle counts, and reconciliation habits that hold up under audit.
  • Fluency with inventory/ERP tools and Excel; barcode/scanning system experience a plus.
  • Comfortable operating daily in an active construction environment alongside superintendents and trade crews.
  • Forklift certification and rigging awareness preferred; OSHA 10/30 a plus.
  • Organized, accountable, and allergic to 'it's here somewhere.'
