Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering L2–L5 commissioning activities for assigned systems or areas, ensuring technical compliance, quality, and readiness for acceptance.
The role balances technical delivery, documentation, and stakeholder coordination.
Key Responsibilities
L2 – Installation Verification Lead verification of installation readiness. Review and approve installation checklists, ITPs, and Method Statements. Ensure installations meet commissioning entry criteria.
L3 – Individual Element Commissioning Plan and witness commissioning of individual items of plant and equipment. Verify correct operation, settings, controls, and protections. Confirm stability before progression to system testing.
L4 – System Functional Testing Coordinate and witness system functional tests. Verify sequences of operation and system responses. Confirm compliance with design intent and operational requirements.
L5 – Integrated Systems Testing Support Integrated Systems Testing activities. Validate resilience and recovery outcomes for assigned systems. Assist in client demonstrations and acceptance activities.
Authority & Decision-Making Can approve progression between commissioning stages within defined scope. Recommends acceptance or rejection of test results.
Technical Skills & Experience 5–8 years commissioning experience in mission-critical or complex facilities. MUST have proven Data Centre or critical infrastructure exposure. Strong technical documentation and coordination skills.
