Job description
About Doit
We are focused on reinventing how people spend, save, invest, exchange, travel, and more. Our objective is to build tools that will help people get more from their money and become an expert at ease. We believe AI will help make finance smart, assessible and safe.
We are looking for the most talented and driven people we can find. We are looking for people who work for their passion, not counting hours. Who loves building great next-generation products, not status quo. Who cares about redefining how everyone around us can get the best financial applications, not for an exclusive few. We have teams working around the world, with over 20 nationalities and growing from our offices and remotely. Join us and build a better future for our society.
In 2019, we built the first mobile-first, insurance platform, enabling insurance to be accessible online by millions in the region. Today, it's the leading insurance platform in Southeast Asia.
The role
You will be BJAK's person on the ground, responsible for getting the business established and growing. That means building partner relationships from scratch, working out how the market operates, and shaping the strategy that sits behind both.
This is a broad role in a new market. Some weeks will be partnership negotiation, others will be regulatory groundwork, operational setup, or working out why something is not converting. We are looking for someone comfortable moving between all of it rather than a specialist in any one part.
What you will do
Partnerships
- Identify, approach and close partnerships with financial institutions and ecosystem players
- Own each relationship end to end, from first conversation through negotiation, onboarding, integration and go-live
- Lead commercial negotiations, with sound judgement on pricing and partnership economics
- Keep a visible pipeline, with disciplined follow-up and clear reporting
- Work with legal, product, technology and compliance to get agreements live quickly
Get the market working
- Establish how we operate locally, including the regulatory requirements that apply to us
- Work with external counsel and internal compliance on the policies we need in place as we grow
- Act as a primary point of contact for regulators and manage filings and communications
- Own monthly revenue, volume and activation targets, and drive partner productivity after go-live
Strategy and operations
- Set the local strategy — which segments we go after, which partners matter most, where we compete and where we do not
- Build the operating rhythm behind it, from reporting and planning through to the processes the team runs on
- Feed what you learn locally into our wider regional and global strategy, and bring the global playbook back into the local market
- Work with teams across the group, taking what has already worked elsewhere rather than rebuilding from scratch
What we are looking for
- Fluent Indonesian and English, written and spoken
- At least five years across technology, financial services or a comparable commercial environment, with real negotiation and partnership experience
- A generalist who has operated across functions — you have done commercial work, but also picked up operations, regulatory, product or whatever else the situation needed
- Comfortable moving between strategy and execution, and willing to do both in the same week
- Evidence of building something from nothing, whether a market, a function or a business line
- Comfortable with ambiguity and self-directed. We expect initiative rather than instruction, and this role will not suit someone who needs to be nudged or handheld
