Job description
The Company:
We are an AI-first recruiting marketplace that has scaled 10x in under a year with a lean, elite team. Backed by top-tier investors with a significant seed round, we are rethinking how talent acquisition works by building a durable, high-growth ecosystem. Our focus is on high-horsepower individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are excited by the challenge of scaling to massive market demand.
The Role:
As one of our first engineers, you will own the primary user-facing product—the recruiter dashboard—end-to-end. This is a pure product-focused role. You will spend your time understanding recruiter workflows, identifying pain points, and iterating on a CRM-style experience that helps users find roles, submit candidates, and track their pipeline.
Role Composition:
- 70% Core Product: Recruiter dashboard, user flows, and UX iteration.
- 20% Internal Tools: Developing features to enable operational efficiency.
- 10% Growth Engineering: Signups, activation, retention, and billing infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities: Core Product & Recruiter Experience
- End-to-End Ownership: Design and build product flows from first principles, taking features from concept to production.
- User Research: Communicate directly with recruiters to translate their manual workflows into 10x more effective digital tools.
- Friction Reduction: Redesign candidate submission flows to include automated data pulling (LinkedIn/GitHub) and integration with meeting notetakers.
- Discovery & Visualization: Improve role discovery via video digests, role Q&A, and advanced filtering.
- Pipeline Management: Build intuitive Kanban views and "stale" candidate indicators to help recruiters manage high-volume pipelines. AI Integration & Interaction
- Calibration Tools: Build UIs that allow recruiters to preview how AI will score submissions.
- Intelligence Features: Implement "Role Fit" scores that match candidates to recruiter expertise.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Applied AI Engineers to integrate complex ML outputs (summaries, recommendations) into simple, intuitive user interfaces. Growth & Quality
- Funnel Optimization: Drive initiatives for user activation, engagement, and billing.
- Incentive Systems: Ship reputation features, including earnings dashboards, leaderboards, and milestone trackers.
- Product Polish: Maintain obsessive attention to detail in design and interaction to ensure the product feels fast, easy, and delightful.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of Full-Stack experience, with a proven ability to own a codebase from top to bottom.
- Product Mindset: A deep focus on customer needs and business impact, rather than just code execution.
- Design Sensibility: Obsessive attention to detail regarding UI/UX and interaction design.
- Technical Fluency: Strong programming fundamentals across modern web stacks.
- Startup Experience: A background in fast-growing, product-driven companies where you thrived without a formal "playbook." Preferred Attributes:
- Early-stage founding team experience.
- Experience building tools for power users (e.g., CRMs, complex dashboards, or HR-tech).
Why work at arxtalent.com
- High-Impact Role: As one of the first engineers (Applied AI Engineer / Founding Engineer for partner companies), you will own roadmap pieces from 0→1, talk directly with customers, and set engineering standards.
- Growth Trajectory: A venture-backed startup at an early stage, with strong product-market fit and rapid market demand. Offers significant equity (0.3–1%) and competitive salary ($120–200k).
- Technology Stack: Focus on production-grade AI (LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, fine-tuning), full-stack implementation (TypeScript, React, Node, Go, Python, AWS/GCP, Kubernetes, Terraform). Opportunity to stay at the cutting edge of AI in HR tech.
- Work Environment: Lean, high-output team; "low ego, high ownership" culture. In-person collaboration required (Hybrid – mostly in San Francisco office; on-site for the early-stage partner role; relocation and perks covered). The company also has a New York headquarters.
- Candidates from Top-Tier Technical Backgrounds Welcome: The Applied AI Engineer job explicitly mentions academic background from top-tier technical institutions (e.g., Stanford, MIT, CMU, Berkeley) as a plus, but other roles emphasize experience and ownership over prestige.
