Bold minds. Big impact. A career at Maple is about making an impact. We empower bold thinking, surround you with an inspiring team and are driven by a motivating purpose. Here, you’ll do work that changes lives—including your own.
The role
We're looking for Registered Nurse (RN) Contractors to support Maple's labs and referrals operations—helping patients receive timely follow-up and clear guidance based on lab results and specialist referrals issued through the Maple platform.
In this role, you'll work remotely and contribute on an as-needed basis, supporting periods of higher volume and continuity across our clinical operations. You'll use your clinical judgment, work independently and help patients take the next step in their care.
Your responsibilities
As a Registered Nurse (RN) Contractor, you will:
- Clinically review lab results issued through Maple and assign appropriate follow-up recommendations for patients.
- Identify abnormal or critical results and determine how urgently patients need follow-up care.
- Contact patients directly when critical results require immediate emergency care.
- Escalate complex cases to physicians when appropriate.
- Support specialist referrals based on clinical directives, including preparing referral documentation and required forms.
- Assign referrals to appropriate specialist clinics based on patient location, clinical need and specialty.
- Redirect referrals when clinics are unresponsive or decline them.
- Review specialist consult reports and determine whether patient follow-up is required.
- Support additional workstreams outside this list, depending on scheduling and operational needs.
What you bring
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN).
- Current registration and good standing with a Canadian provincial or territorial nursing college.
- No active malpractice investigations and professional liability coverage in place.
- Experience in a patient-facing clinical setting—primary care, medical-surgical or emergency care preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and confidence reviewing lab results and specialist documentation.
- Comfort working independently in a remote, technology-enabled environment.
- Proficiency using Mac devices and learning new digital tools quickly.
- Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal.
- Bilingual proficiency in French is a significant asset, but not required.
- Strong understanding of patient privacy and confidentiality requirements.
The details
- Job type: Independent contractor with variable hours based on operational demand. Most RN contractors are expected to support 10–20 hours per week on average, depending on volume and availability.
- Hiring manager: Manager, Care Delivery Operations
- Location: Fully remote within Canada
- Start date: November 2026
- Pay rate: $35 hourly
We're committed to the safety and security of our platform. Please note that any offer of engagement is subject to a criminal record check (EPIC) and identity verification. Additional checks, including employment or education verification, may be conducted depending on the role's requirements.
