Job description

The Role

OakNorth's lending business is scaling across the UK and US, and we need a Sales Enablement Lead to join our growing Commercial Strategy team. Working within Debt Finance, you will own the sales enablement engine – understanding what best in class looks like across our end to end deal processes and translating this into playbooks, materials and training to support every Debt Finance Director in reaching their full potential. This is a hands-on, build-from-scratch mandate for someone who can earn credibility with senior dealmakers and translate how they operate into practical tools.

What you’ll do

  • Work hand in hand with our Debt Finance Directors to understand what good looks like, and any gaps in our existing deal processes
  • Codify “what good looks like” and build our sales enablement materials, optimising by stakeholder, segment and product
  • Develop sales playbooks on how we position OakNorth to different stakeholder groups
  • Build battlecards and objection-handling guides and understand blockers at different deal stages and how to address these
  • Partner with marketing to develop sharp, consistent sales materials
  • Own onboarding for new DFDs and get new joiners productive faster
  • Identify coaching gaps and support delivery alongside our top originators

The Profile We care more about how you think than where you've worked. You may come from commercial lending, debt advisory, banking, consulting or sales enablement — what matters is credibility with dealmakers and a talent for turning tacit expertise into usable tools. You will bring:

  • 5–8+ years' experience, with enough commercial and credit fluency to follow a complex lending deal and hold your own with senior originators
  • Sharp synthesis and writing — the ability to watch how someone sells and distil it into something others can use
  • Strong systems thinking and the instinct to build structure where none exists
  • Low ego and high curiosity — comfortable learning from others before telling them how it's done
  • A bias for action and comfort building without a playbook

Benefits & Perks

  • 25 days holiday
  • Personalised benefits — opt-in to what matters to you
  • Subsidised Private Medical Insurance with Bupa
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity leave
  • Wellbeing and social events
  • In-house Barista Bar — London office
  • Volunteering time off — support causes that matter to you
  • Salary sacrifice schemes — cycle to work, nursery, gym, electric car scheme

Why work at OakNorth

  • Equity: Employees receive equity in the business, sharing in growth.
  • Flat structure: Opportunity to interact with senior leaders and have real impact regardless of tenure.
  • Autonomy: Personal goal-setting with manager support; freedom to take on projects of interest.
  • Mission-driven: Directly contribute to creating jobs, homes, and supporting ambitious entrepreneurs.
  • Culture: Values include “Say it how it is” (honest communication), “10x” (set ambitious goals), “One team”, and “Momentum”.
  • Hybrid/Office: Multiple office locations across UK (London, Manchester, Leeds, Bristol, Newcastle, Birmingham) plus New York and India. Specific remote policies not detailed but likely hybrid for most roles.
  • Recognition: Work for a bank that has won “Best Bank in the UK” and is seen as a top fintech employer.
