Scientific Engagement at Ataraxis AI (Remote)
Role details
Job description
About Ataraxis AI
Ataraxis is a clinical AI research lab working at the intersection of multi-modal AI and precision medicine. Our goal is to make disease predictable. To accomplish this, we develop new AI methods that predict patient outcomes and treatment response, and build clinical tools to assist physicians in selecting the most optimal treatments for their patients. Our AI research lab discovers and develops methods to recognize patterns and predict outcomes across complex, multi-modal clinical data. This spans our causality (Ataraxis™ Tau), foundation model (Falcon and Kestrel for digital pathology), and survival analysis research. Our first clinical products, such as Ataraxis™ Breast for breast cancer, already help patients get the most appropriate treatment across the best academic institutions and community clinics worldwide. At Ataraxis, you will have a unique opportunity to shape not only the future of our company, but also the future of healthcare. You will join an exceptional team at the forefront of clinical AI research and deployment. Our advisors include AI pioneers such as our founding advisor, Yann LeCun, and distinguished oncologists from top cancer research institutions, all united by the mission to redefine precision medicine. Ataraxis has raised over $24 million in funding, including a $20 million Series A led by top venture capital funds such as Thiel Capital/Founders Fund (OpenAI, SpaceX, Palantir), Obvious Ventures (AMI Labs, Inceptive, Radical Numerics, Recursion), and AIX Ventures (Hugging Face, Perplexity). We are an company with a flat organizational structure, where every team member is empowered to actively contribute. Leadership roles are earned by those who demonstrate initiative and consistently deliver exceptional results. Strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize ruthlessly are essential.
About this role
This role is ideal for early-career candidates with scientific background, or candidates looking to transition to industry, who are competitive and interested in building the company through the commercial-scientific lens. You'll run high-volume, high-quality scientific outreach to top physicians in the country. Your job is to first have a scientific conversation, run it credibly at a peer level, and convert it into business objectives: a first order, an early access enrollment, or a qualified handoff to our sales team. This is a rare opportunity that can grow into more scientific or more commercial roles long-term, and can provide significant upside, but will require people with more scientific background to handle commercial/sales-like conversations and focus on commercial outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own outbound scientific engagement to high-priority oncologists and surgeons: personalized email, calls, video meetings, conference follow-up.
- Present our validation data, methodology, and clinical utility evidence fluently and handle hard questions on study design, comparators, and guidelines.
- Convert interest into first orders or early access participation; pass larger accounts to field sales with full context.
- Feed physician objections and evidence gaps back to our clinical and product teams.
- Support field reps as the on-call scientific closer for their toughest accounts.
Qualifications
- PhD (or MD/PharmD) in a relevant field, ideally related to cancer biology.
- Genuine command of clinical oncology literature; ability to read and critique trial design.
- Persuasive writer and speaker: You enjoy convincing smart, skeptical people. You can present in a scientifically charming way.
- We realize that your background might be science/research-heavy. This role is going to be the best for people who are competitive, can work in a metric-driven/outcome-driven environment, can work with quotas and maintaining commercial pipeline.
- High proficiency in Google Slides/PowerPoint; able to craft compelling, clean, data-driven visuals.
