Saronic Technologies at a glance

Saronic builds autonomous surface vessels and the software to command them, aiming to give the U.S. Navy and allied fleets uncrewed ships at scale.

Saronic designs, builds, and operates autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) for naval and maritime missions, pairing in-house hardware with AI-driven autonomy and command-and-control software. The vessels run from the 24-foot Corsair to the 180-foot Marauder, and Saronic sells the whole stack: the boats, the autonomy, and the mission-control software that ties a fleet together.

Summary

Lead the development and execution of electrical test strategies and automated test equipment for vehicle and subsystem programs. Architect comprehensive test plans, validate electrical designs, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure thorough verification prior to release.

Job description

Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, dedicated to developing state-of-the-art solutions that enhance maritime operations through autonomous and intelligent platforms.

Job Overview Saronic is seeking a Senior Electrical Test Engineer to lead the development and execution of electrical test strategies across our vehicle and subsystem programs. This role is responsible for architecting and executing comprehensive test plans aligned with the engineering design process, developing automated test equipment (ATE), and partnering cross-functionally to ensure electrical designs are thoroughly validated prior to release and deployment. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in electrical validation, hardware verification, and test automation within complex electromechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Test Strategy & Execution
  • Develop and own comprehensive test plans in accordance with the engineering design process (requirements → design → verification → validation → release).
  • Translate system and subsystem requirements into structured verification matrices and executable test procedures.
  • Lead electrical verification efforts at board, subsystem, and system levels.
  • Design and execute functional, environmental, regression, reliability, and stress testing.
  • Drive root cause analysis for electrical failures and implement corrective validation strategies.
  • Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, and results.

Automated Test Equipment (ATE) Development

  • Design, build, and deploy automated test equipment for PCBAs, harnesses, power systems, and integrated assemblies.
  • Develop automated test scripts and frameworks using tools such as Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Create scalable test architectures to support engineering validation, production test, and field diagnostics.
  • Specify instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DAQs, power supplies, loads, environmental chambers, etc.) and integrate into automated systems.
  • Improve test throughput, repeatability, and data quality through automation and fixture design.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, firmware, systems, and manufacturing engineers to ensure designs are testable and validated early.
  • Participate in design reviews (DCR, PDR, CDR etc.) to advocate for testability and verification rigor.
  • Collaborate with technicians to develop repeatable procedures and provide training where needed.
  • Partner with manufacturing to transition engineering validation tests into production test processes.
  • Support field troubleshooting and validation activities as required.

Process & Quality Leadership

  • Establish best practices for test documentation, version control, data capture, and reporting.
  • Drive continuous improvement in verification methodologies and lab infrastructure.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians in structured test development and debugging techniques.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry, safety, and regulatory standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in electrical test engineering or hardware validation.
  • Strong understanding of the engineering design lifecycle and formal verification processes.
  • Hands-on experience developing automated test equipment and fixtures.
  • Proficiency with electrical lab instrumentation and measurement techniques.
  • Experience writing test automation software (Python, LabVIEW, C/C++, or similar).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal systems.
  • Experience working in cross-functional hardware development environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in robotics, autonomous systems, defense, maritime, or ruggedized platforms.
  • Familiarity with high-voltage power systems and battery integration.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC testing and environmental qualification.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing test and DFM/DFT principles.
  • Experience with requirements management tools and configuration control systems.
