Backed by leading investors and trusted by data teams at companies like Ramp, Honeybook, and Lemonade, we're building the future of data confidence. Join us in shaping an innovative product and a high-impact engineering culture.

The Opportunity We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. As a Senior Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and optimizing our DataOps platform. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be solving complex challenges and driving innovation in how data operations are managed. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams, helping to bring new features to life while ensuring the performance and scalability of our platform. This is an incredible opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of Matia.

What You'll Do

  • Design & Develop: Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable code for Matia’s DataOps platform, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
  • Lead Features: Take ownership in leading the development of core features and services from conception to completion, with minimal oversight.
  • Mentor & Lead: Mentor junior engineers, sharing knowledge and best practices, and provide technical leadership across projects.
  • Drive Improvement: Champion continuous improvement efforts to ensure our systems are adaptable to evolving business needs.
  • Troubleshoot & Optimize: Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in both development and production environments.
  • Collaborate: Work effectively with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, etc.) to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.

What We're Looking For

We are seeking a highly experienced, hands-on builder and technical leader who can independently drive innovation and impactful contributions to complex systems. Must-Haves:

  • Experience: 5+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in a Senior or Lead role where you owned the delivery of mission-critical systems.
  • Hands-on Technical Expertise: Proven exceptional proficiency in core technologies like TypeScript, Node.js, React, Python and deep understanding of high-performance SQL/NoSQL database design.
  • SaaS & Data Systems: Proven track record of architecting and scaling high-throughput SaaS platforms or complex, data-intensive systems, with a focus on system reliability and long-term maintainability.
  • Distributed Systems: Experience building reliable, asynchronous data pipelines using message brokers like Kafka, SQS, or RabbitMQ.
  • Infrastructure & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-native deployments. AWS expertise is an advantage.
  • Technical Leadership: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership, driving impactful contributions.
  • A passion for solving challenging technical problems, thriving in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
  • A strong team player with excellent communication skills who can collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Data Domain Expertise: Previous experience at a data-centric company (e.g., ETL/ELT, Reverse ETL, Observability, or Data Cataloging).
  • Infrastructure & Orchestration: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes (K8s) and cloud-native deployments. AWS expertise is an advantage.
