Seccl· London, United Kingdom· £75k–£90k·
Role details
Job description
Hybrid role based in our London office (3 days a week)
About us
Seccl is the Octopus-owned embedded investment platform, on a mission to help more people invest, and invest well.
We’re building the infrastructure behind the next generation of investing. Our technology already powers some of the UK’s most ambitious fintechs, banks, financial advisers and wealth firms, with close to a million investors relying on Seccl-powered platforms. And we’re now expanding into Europe, starting in Ireland.
We’ve got a proven product, strong momentum and big ambitions for what comes next: helping more household-name brands launch and scale investment propositions, entering new markets and replacing outdated investment infrastructure with technology that’s faster, simpler and built for scale.
We’re proud to be part of Octopus, one of the UK’s most successful privately held investment and technology groups. That gives us the backing and long-term perspective to build something substantial, while keeping the pace and energy of a high-growth business. Seccl and Octopus are both B Corp certified and share a belief that profit and purpose should go hand in hand.
If you want to help build the next chapter of Seccl in Ireland and shape the future of investing across Europe, you’ll be in good company.

The role
We’re looking for a Senior product manager to join the Tax and Recs squad in our European tribe. You’ll own how we reconcile client cash and assets, and how we help our clients report their customers’ tax correctly, as we grow across Europe.
Our European strategy has two parts. First, we’re going deep in Ireland, building a full proposition with the products, tax wrappers and pensions that Irish firms and their clients need. Second, we’re building the foundations to spread at speed into more European countries, with a focused offering for each market rather than a rebuild every time we enter a new one. The Tax and Recs squad makes both possible: we can only grow if our reconciliations hold up under regulatory scrutiny and our tax engine is something clients can trust.
You won’t be joining a finished roadmap. You’ll help define it, with real ownership over the problems that will decide how far and how fast we can grow in Europe. You’ll work closely with our Operations, Compliance and Customer teams, and with key European clients. A reliable tax engine is not just a regulatory necessity, it is a genuine advantage when we sell to new firms, so your work will be felt well beyond the squad.
What you’ll own
- Scaling our cash and stock reconciliations to meet Client Asset Requirements (CAR) in Ireland, so we can grow volumes with confidence
- Making sure our Operations team’s processes work in Europe and scale as we do
- Building the tax reporting and tax engine for Ireland, so our clients can report tax correctly on behalf of their customers across the wrappers that matter to Irish firms
- Localising that foundation to each wrapper and each country across Europe, rather than starting again every time
- Connecting directly to tax authorities where a country requires us to pay tax on behalf of our clients’ customers
- Making our tax engine reliable, transparent and easy to build on, so tax becomes a reason firms choose Seccl
- Defining and prioritising the Tax and Recs squad’s roadmap, balancing what Ireland needs today with what the next European markets will need
- Translating regulatory requirements, including CAR and Irish tax rules, into clear product requirements with Compliance
- Breaking down complex problems like localising a tax engine into clear, actionable plans with engineers and other stakeholders
- Using quantitative and qualitative data, such as break rates, exceptions and resolution times, to make evidence-based decisions
This role’s for you if...
- You have a track record of owning a product area end to end, ideally in reconciliations, custody, investment operations or tax in a regulated environment (e.g. fintech, banking, investments, pensions, insurance)
- You understand client money and money flow
- You’re comfortable operating in 0→1 or highly ambiguous environments where structure doesn’t yet exist
- You can bring clarity to complex, undefined problems and turn them into actionable plans
- You’re highly proactive: you create momentum rather than wait for direction
- You’re customer-obsessed, with a focus on improving workflows and outcomes
- You thrive in cross-functional environments, working comfortably with Operations, Compliance, Customer and Engineering, and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
What’s in it for you We offer a generous mix of benefits designed around the things that matter to our people:
- 💰 As salary between £75,000 and £90,000, reviewed annually, plus a 6% employer pension contribution and life assurance
- 🌴 27 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, with some flexibility around bank holidays, plus your birthday off
- 💙 Two volunteering days each year
- 🌎 The option to work abroad for up to six weeks a year

- 🏥 Private medical insurance with AXA Health
