Overview

Maplebear Inc. D/B/A Instacart in San Francisco, CA seeks Senior Software Engineer, Growth (Multiple Openings). Employee may be stationed anywhere in the continental United States but will report directly to Instacart headquarters in San Francisco, CA.

About the Job

Build and maintain internal platforms that power advanced audience targeting and end-to-end CRM campaign execution for marketers and retailers.

Duties include:

  • Developing highly scalable software using innovative computer science and software engineering principles while ensuring proper protocols are in place to rapidly roll out upgrades and new features
  • Designing and implementing targeting features leveraging demographic, intent, and behavioral signals for strategic growth
  • Building intuitive user interfaces for configuring offers, segments, and content;
  • Analyzing and optimizing expensive SQL queries
  • Building large scale data pipelines and modeling user data to improve accuracy and performance
  • Executing ongoing testing and analysis of current systems, including independent performance analysis, diagnosis, and troubleshooting
  • Determining design solutions to problematic programming
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or foreign equivalent).
  • 2 years of experience in the job offered or related.
  • 2 years of experience working with Java, Ruby, Python, or similar programming languages;
  • 2 years of experience working with MySQL, PostgreSQL, NoSQL, or similar data management systems;
  • 2 years of experience working with client/server architectures and application architectures;
  • 2 years of experience working with distributed codebases on cross‐functional teams;
  • 2 years of experience with data streaming and big data technologies including Apache Spark, Airflow, Hadoop, or similar;
  • 2 years of data engineering experience including developing robust data pipelines, optimizing data schemas, and implementing solutions to ensure data quality and integrity.
  • Note: In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related (or foreign equivalent) and 2 years of experience in the job offered or related, employer will accept candidates with no degree and at least 4 years of experience in the job offered or related, including 2 years of experience with each of the required special skills. Employer will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience.
