Senior Web Engineer - Fan Monetization at SoundCloud (New York, NY)
SoundCloud· New York, NY·
Job description
SoundCloud empowers artists, tastemakers and fans to connect and share through music. Founded in 2007, SoundCloud is a creator-first platform helping artists build and grow their careers by providing them with the most advanced tools, services, and resources. With over 4x the music catalog of every other major streaming platform, spanning 40+ million artists across 190+ countries, SoundCloud is where emerging artists find their sound, hidden gems are discovered, and music culture is shaped in real time.
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Web Engineer to join the SoundCloud Fan Monetization team. Our mission is to deepen the connection between fans and creators, building features that enhance how fans engage with and support their favorite artists. In this role, you will operate as part of a truly global team, owning the web surfaces—both desktop and mobile web—that bring these features to life. You will collaborate regularly with engineers and product partners in London, Berlin, and elsewhere to deliver high-quality, seamless web experiences to millions of users worldwide.
As a senior member of the team, you will play a key role in driving technical design, web performance, and architecture while working in a forward-thinking environment that fully embraces AI acceleration to responsibly streamline and elevate development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain user-facing web features on SoundCloud's desktop and mobile web surfaces that drive fan engagement and creator support
- Embrace and utilize advanced AI tools to safely, securely, and responsibly accelerate your coding workflows, code reviews, and testing frameworks
- Partner closely with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and distributed engineering teams across our international offices (including London and Berlin)
- Participate in technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and roadmap planning to ensure the performance, scalability, and maintainability of our web stack
- Optimize web application performance, debug complex cross-browser issues, and advocate for best practices in accessibility, testing, and frontend metrics
Experience and Background:
- 4–6+ years of professional experience building modern, large-scale web applications with deep knowledge of TypeScript, React, and modern web tooling (e.g., Next.js, Vite)
- A solid grasp of web performance optimization, responsive design principles, and web accessibility standards
- Excited about leveraging advanced AI development assistants to optimize your productivity, code quality, and technical exploration
- You care deeply about the user experience and the "why" behind the code, not just the "how"
- Thrives in an agile, distributed environment, with strong communication skills and a passion for mentoring peers
- While your primary focus is web, an openness or curiosity toward occasionally learning or collaborating across other tech stacks—such as iOS, Android, or Backend (Go)—is a welcome plus
The salary range for this role is $150,000 - $195,000 annually. The final salary offered will be determined based on relative experience, skills, internal equity, and location. We also offer a generous total rewards program - read more about additional benefits and perks below!
