Job description

About ALSO. We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

ALSO is looking for a Vehicle Test Engineer to play a key role in defining and supporting reliability, durability, and feature testing.

What You'll Do

  • Define, create, and drive execution of overall vehicle durability/environmental test targets, working cross-functionally with systems and sub-systems engineering teams
  • Support test planning and execution for fleet-based validation activities to drive edge case extraction, localized product use testing, and data ingestion
  • Support the definition and realization of KPIs to drive product use metrics
  • Support vehicle integration and measurement equipment setup, configuration, and operation
  • Drive vehicle-level testing for software features, performance, functionality, and stability
  • Drive traceability and directly support defect triage and management
  • Support planning and execution of vehicle tests to identify and align on homologation topics

What You'll Bring

  • BS/MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in systems test engineering, vehicle testing, or vehicle durability testing
  • Experience with instrumentation and data collection, e.g., accelerometers, strain gauges, force transducers, fleet ops, data logging equipment, and signal conditioning
  • Core understanding of systems engineering processes and methods
  • Experience testing vibration, shock, thermal cycling, high temperature and humidity, and corrosion
  • Experience with homologation and durability testing
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools such as JAMA, and planning and organization tools such as JIRA/Confluence
  • Working knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, CAN FD, SPI) and Vector tools
  • Comfortable riding two-wheeled vehicles of various speeds and power levels

The salary for this position ranges from $190,000 - $225,000 per year, depending on experience, qualifications, and location.

This is an onsite position requiring attendance in the office 5 days per week. Once fully ramped and in alignment with their manager, employees may have the opportunity for limited flexibility, including the potential to work remotely one day per week, based on business and team needs.

Perks & Benefits

  • Robust health coverage — excellent health, dental and vision insurance covered up to 100% by ALSO with FSA & HSA options
  • One Medical membership and dedicated insurance advocates
  • Rich fertility and family building benefits with Progyny
  • Flexible time off
  • 401(k) match

Why ALSO. We’re passionate about helping the world find a better way to get there—wherever it is you’re headed. We’re located in the heart of Silicon Valley and have brought together a world-class team from some of the biggest brands in the technology, automotive, cycling, outdoor recreation and retail spaces. Together we’re working hands-on to imagine, design and build an entirely new solution to a global set of transportation challenges.

Why work at ALSO
