Job description

You’ve built a career caring for patients. What if you could build a practice around how you want to care for them? Kinstead helps experienced Nurse Practitioners across Massachusetts launch independent practices of their own, with the guidance and support to make getting started feel manageable. This isn’t a traditional NP job. You’ll own your practice, choose the patients you want to serve, and have more control over your schedule. We’ll help put the infrastructure in place so you can focus on what you do best: caring for patients. Create a practice that fits your life Maybe you want longer appointments and more meaningful time with patients. Maybe you're looking for a more flexible schedule, greater earning potential, or the opportunity to finally build something of your own. And you don't have to leave your current job to make it happen. Many NPs start with just a few hours a week while continuing to work elsewhere. From there, you can expand your practice at whatever pace feels right for you. Your practice could stay part-time or eventually become your full-time career. The goal is to create something that aligns with your professional goals, your lifestyle, and the community you want to serve. You focus on your patients. We’ll support everything behind the scenes. Opening your own practice comes with responsibilities beyond patient care. Kinstead helps manage the business and operational side, including:

  • Insurance credentialing and payer contracting
  • Billing, coding, and revenue cycle management
  • EHR and technology
  • Scheduling and patient intake
  • A virtual front desk with real humans answering patient calls
  • Business setup, legal, and compliance support
  • Website and marketing support
  • Tools and support to help you grow your patient panel

You bring your clinical experience and understanding of your community. We help you turn that into a practice of your own. Getting started may be easier than you expect You don't need a large patient panel from day one. Most practices can cover their basic costs with fewer than 3 patient visits per month, and startup costs are typically less than $3,000. As your practice grows, NPs typically take home around $100–$200 per clinical hour, with the potential to earn around $300,000 annually in a full-time practice. More than 50 Nurse Practitioners have already partnered with Kinstead to start and grow independent practices of their own. Who we're looking for This could be a good fit if you:

  • Are an experienced FNP, PMHNP, or other Nurse Practitioner
  • Hold an active Massachusetts NP license and meet the state’s requirements for independent practice
  • Have several years of experience caring for patients
  • Have strong connections to the community you hope to serve
  • Have considered opening your own practice, even if you're not sure where to begin
  • Want more control over how you care for patients and how you structure your work

You don't need to come in with a business plan. You don't need to understand the ins and outs of credentialing or billing. And you don't need to be ready to leave your current job. If owning your own practice has been on your mind, we'd love to connect and help you explore what getting started with Kinstead could look like for you.

Why work at Kinstead

  • Tiny team, outsized impact: With only 4 employees on LinkedIn but 16 active job postings, the company is in a hypergrowth hiring phase. New hires will likely have significant ownership and influence over product and company direction.
  • Mission-driven healthcare work: The team is united by a belief in NP-led, independent, patient-centered care as a solution to access and quality problems in the US healthcare system.
  • Founder-led engineering: The CTO (Nick Catalano) is a hands-on engineer who has built HIPAA-compliant healthcare systems — the engineering culture appears pragmatic, impact-oriented, and built around clinician workflows.
  • Tech stack: Typescript, GitHub, GitHub Actions — modern, pragmatic, and familiar for full-stack engineers.
  • Remote/hybrid policy: Not explicitly stated; headquarters is New York City, and the small team suggests a flexible work environment where in-person collaboration may be valued but remote is likely supported given the engineering roles.
  • Notable: The company is pre-product-market fit for its technology layer; roles like Senior Backend Engineer and Senior Product Engineer will be foundational to building the core platform.
