Job description
Individual should have two (2) plus years of civil/structural design experience in an engineering consulting company, industrial, manufacturing or oil & gas company. Employee may be required to go out into the field to clarify client requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical responsibilities required of a Structural Designer
- Be eager and open to gaining structural experience from department colleagues
- Perform field walkdowns without assistance with a project team
- Proactively coordinate project activities between Structural and other disciplines
- Create and review project structural deliverables
- Mentor less experienced designers and technicians
- Assist with Scope Development and help maintain Budget Control for the CAD team on projects
- Demonstrate expertise with Valdes' structural engineering work practices
- Demonstrate expertise in using Revit and Navisworks in 3D modeling
- Prepare structural scopes of work and material take-offs
- Develop a refined understanding of construction drawings such as Plans, Sections, Details, and Piping Isometrics
- Continue to develop expertise with prevalent structural industry codes, standards, and practices from a drawing perspective (i.e., AISC, ACI)
- Detail both concrete and steel connections
- Effectively support CAD efforts outside of CSA when necessary
- Perform and support CAD audits
Qualifications
- Education: High School diploma, Associated Degree or higher preferred
- Experience: 2+ years of experience working in the design or drafting field
- Demonstrate technical competencies required of a Structural Designer
- Detail both concrete and steel connections
- Skillful 2D and 3D CAD expertise
- Basic Microsoft Office skills
- Revit experience a plus
- Navisworks experience is a plus
- Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills
- Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
