Superintendents are responsible for managing the field operations across multiple active job sites. The role requires advanced knowledge of heavy civil construction, strong leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to solving problems. The Superintendent will be responsible for project execution, safety, scheduling, coordination of subcontractors, and ensuring projects stay on time and within budget.
Superintendent Responsibilities:
- Oversee all daily site operations and ensure project milestones are met.
- Coordinate and schedule crews, subcontractors, equipment, and materials.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
- Ensure work is performed according to design, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Monitor safety compliance and conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Communicate daily with project managers regarding progress, issues, and solutions.
- Lead and mentor foremen and field crews to promote productivity and accountability.
- Manage inspections, testing, and documentation required by municipalities or clients.
- Identify potential risks or delays and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate records including daily reports, timecards, and material logs.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in site development or heavy civil construction.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience as a Superintendent or similar leadership role.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting civil plans and construction documents.
- Strong understanding of grading, utility installation, stormwater management, and paving.
- Knowledge of construction safety protocols and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to lead and motivate field personnel effectively.
- Excellent organizational, scheduling, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Competency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office, project management software).
- Valid driver’s license.
- OSHA 30 Certification strongly preferred.
