Job Title:       Systems Adminstrator – Level III Location:       Fort Hood, TX (on-site) Supporting:  The Defense Health Agency (DHA) **Secret Security Clearance**

Overview

CompTech Computer Technologies is seeking an experienced System Administrator – Level III to provide advanced systems administration and infrastructure support in support of the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position is responsible for the operation, administration, maintenance, security, and optimization of enterprise computer systems, servers, networks, and associated infrastructure. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on systems administration experience, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, and demonstrated experience with server management, user and access administration, security, backup and recovery, scripting, and automation. This individual will also be responsible for developing comprehensive technical documentation to support reliable and repeatable infrastructure operations.

Scope of Work

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Administer, maintain, monitor, and support enterprise computer systems, servers, networks, and related infrastructure.
  • Perform server management, network management, user account management, security management, and backup and recovery activities.
  • Ensure users have secure, reliable, and appropriate access to systems and resources.
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize server operating systems and associated infrastructure platforms.
  • Monitor system performance, availability, capacity, and overall health and proactively address potential issues.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex server, operating system, network, application, access, and infrastructure-related problems.
  • Identify root causes of system issues and implement appropriate corrective actions.
  • Perform system optimization to improve performance, reliability, availability, and operational efficiency.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, access controls, and other identity-related administrative functions.
  • Support security configuration and administration in accordance with established Government and organizational security requirements.
  • Perform and validate system backups and support restoration and disaster-recovery activities as required.
  • Develop and implement automation and scripts using common scripting languages to improve system administration, monitoring, maintenance, and operational processes.
  • Identify manual or repetitive administrative processes that can be automated to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.
  • Develop, maintain, and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), maintenance guides, technical documentation, and knowledge-base articles for supported infrastructure platforms.
  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, maintenance activities, and technical resolutions.
  • Coordinate with network, cybersecurity, application, database, service desk, and other infrastructure teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Support system upgrades, patches, configuration changes, and other infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Follow applicable change-management, incident-management, security, and configuration-management procedures.
  • Provide advanced technical guidance and knowledge sharing to other IT personnel as appropriate

Experience, Education, and Certification Requirements:

Experience:

  • Six (6) years of progressive experience in systems administration or a related IT infrastructure discipline demonstrating advanced proficiency.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience administering and maintaining enterprise servers and infrastructure.
  • Experience with server management, network management, user account management, security administration, and backup/recovery.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and utilizing scripts to automate system administration tasks.
  • Experience performing advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis of complex infrastructure and system issues.
  • Experience monitoring and optimizing system performance, reliability, and availability.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, including SOPs, maintenance guides, and knowledge-base articles.
  • Experience supporting system security, access controls, patching, configuration, and maintenance activities.
  • Strong analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
  • Ability to satisfy the security and background investigation requirements associated with the position.

Education:

Bachelor’s degree and/or applicable equivalency of four (4) years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

Preferred / Relevant Certifications:

Commercial baseline certifications applicable to this advanced role may include:

  • CompTIA CASP+/SecurityX
  • (ISC)² CISSP

Additional advanced certifications related to systems administration, cloud infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, Microsoft, Linux/Red Hat, VMware, or other enterprise infrastructure technologies are a plus.

Additional certifications related to networking, cybersecurity, or enterprise infrastructure technologies are a plus.

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Active Secret Clearance

Salary:

  • $75,000 - $80,000 plus full Benefits, PTO, 401k+
