Job description
About the Team & Role
Great design and great engineering don't always speak the same language, and the gap between them is where good ideas die on the way to production. This role closes that gap: turning design intent into working UI, and grounding design decisions in what's actually buildable, from the earliest sketch through shipped product.
You'll prototype before you polish, advocate for the end user in rooms full of competing priorities, and be fluent enough in both design and code to move fluidly between them without losing fidelity in either direction.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the connective tissue between design and engineering, translating design intent into working UI while grounding design decisions in technical reality.
- Build prototypes early and often, surfacing opportunities, mistakes, and overlooked details at the prototyping stage before they impact timelines and budgets.
- Advocate strongly for UX in cross-functional discussions, speaking to content strategy, creative direction, and engineering complexity, while championing the end user's perspective.
- Implement polished, accessible UIs with a solid command of programming fundamentals, fluent in both design ("pixels") and code ("pointers").
- Collaborate closely with designers, researchers, and product partners, and build internal tools that streamline the broader UX process.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Design, or another relevant field.
- 4+ years of experience working at the intersection of design and engineering.
- Proficiency with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, and CSS.
- Experience working with Azure or a comparable cloud platform.
- Strong command of accessibility standards and a track record of shipping polished, production-grade UI.
- Fluency in prototyping tools and workflows, with the judgment to know when a prototype is answering the right question.
- Comfort operating as the interpreter in a room of specialists: you translate between designers, engineers, and product without losing precision in either direction.
- A strong point of view on end-user experience, and the confidence to advocate for it even when it creates friction.
Why work at Auger
- Culture highlights: Described as a "pioneering venture" with a human-centered approach to solving broken supply chains. The team is composed of operators who "have lived the consequences" — late nights, impossible trade-offs — and are building to eliminate that pain for others.
- Remote/hybrid/office policy: In-office roles (e.g., Strategic BDR listed as "In-Office"). HQ in Bellevue, WA, with additional offices in Clyde Hill, WA and Bellevue, WA.
- Notable perks or engineering culture: Heavy investment in deep technical talent (AI, data science, supply chain science). Emphasis on moving from "firefighting to reinvention." Backed by top-tier VC with substantial runway ($400M total funding). Strong pipeline of ex-Amazon, Microsoft, and Meta engineers.
