Job description
At Variance we are teaching machines to make the hardest judgement calls at scale. That means building AI agents for the high-precision gray-area of stopping fraud, scams, and abuse. We’re a small, talent-dense team in San Francisco, tackling problems that touch billions of events and entities. Our customers include several Fortune 500s and global marketplaces and we're scaling to free millions of hours of human effort. If you thrive on extreme ownership, moving fast, and working directly with founders, you’ll feel at home here. You’re a fit if you:
- Care deeply about craftsmanship and have strong opinions about your work
- After familiar with our tech stack: React/Next.js, Typescript, MySQL, and ClickHouse for agent context but we value strong fundamentals over any specific technology.
- Thrive on owning features end-to-end, from backend to polished UI to production
- Are thrilled by the prospect of building AI interfaces being used to literally save lives
What you’ll do
- Ship features end-to-end with iteration cycles measured in hours, not quarters
- Scale our product into new industries and workflows through fast pilots and live demos
- Work directly with the founders on massive-scale, frontier problems
- Design systems where AI must decide in real time, balancing precision, speed, and user trust. Our culture We believe in ownership, urgency, and craft. We enjoy spirited debate, wild ideas, and building things we're proud of. We're fully in-person in San Francisco.
What we offer
- Competitive salary and meaningful equity
- Health care: we offer platinum-level medical, dental, and vision insurance
- Unlimited PTO, sick leave, and parental leave
- Up to $100 in reimbursement for personal health & wellness expenses each month
- 401(k) plan
Why work at Deploy Talent
- Culture highlights: The team is described as “small” and “senior,” with every team member having been an early hire somewhere. The firm emphasizes that recruiters are embedded with founders by background, not by job description. The culture appears to be high-autonomy, high-trust, and founder-centric.
- Remote/hybrid/office policy: The open position (Commercial Litigation Attorney) is listed as “Hybrid,” suggesting a flexible work model. The firm has physical offices in New York, San Francisco, Newport Beach, and London.
- Notable perks or engineering culture: Deploy Talent’s own team is built from people who have worked at companies like Anthropic, Tenstorrent, Waymo, and Applied Intuition. The firm’s recruiting team is heavy on engineering and technical hiring (roles include Full-Stack & Backend Engineering, Technical Recruiting). The firm’s approach is designed to appeal to recruiters who want to work deeply with startup founders rather than operate as transactional headhunters.
