The most exciting part is that, this work will be tightly combined with intelligent robots that Telexistence is building fully in-house, which consists of in-house made HW, SW (from motion planning to AI), and System application. We strongly believe by developing all in-house would benefit to a better UX to the customer, hence believe our products developed so far give a large impact to the logistics warehouse market. As VP of System Applications (Logistics Robotics), you will own the technology and organizational strategy for our robot and logistics operation platform end-to-end — from cloud-hosted services down to the applications that run in the warehouse and on the robot itself. You will set technical direction, build and lead the team responsible for delivering it, and be accountable for the business outcomes of your organization: budget, hiring, delivery, and cross-functional alignment across the company. You will work across 3 major components in our system: Logistics operation application (including robots, and autonomous vehicles) Operation management system (Cloud infra + Web app to manage the robot and warehouse) Robot GUI (local web server running in the robot), which varies from manipulators to automated forklifts (AGFs) This role requires a leader with deep, hands-on technical credibility across both frontend and backend development, with hands on experience in designing and deploying full solution (architecture, UX design, deployment). The role requires strong expertise in C# (.NET) and cloud platforms, Azure in particular — combined with proven experience managing engineering teams, owning solution decisions, and operating as a business leader within a larger organization.

Team & Platform Context

We develop using C# (.NET) for both backend and edge communication services to ensure unified development across systems. Our cloud infrastructure runs on Azure, and robots connect to cloud services through standard IoT/communication protocols. Your organization will work across this full stack — from frontend UI to backend services to cloud deployment — to deliver seamless cloud-to-edge operations.

Responsibilities

- Leadership & Team Management

  • Build, structure, and grow the engineering organization — own hiring, interviewing, and onboarding decisions to scale the team in line with business needs.
  • Manage, coach, and develop engineers and engineering managers; set clear OKR goals, run performance reviews, and build career paths within the team, by collaborating with HR.

Solution & Technical Decision-Making

  • Own final decision-making  on solution architecture and technical direction across the platform (frontend, backend, and cloud).
  • Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions, ensuring systems are scalable, secure, and cost-efficient.

Business & Budget Ownership

  • Own and manage the engineering budget for the organization, including headcount planning, tooling/infrastructure spend, and vendor decisions.
  • Translate business requirements and product roadmap into engineering plans, timelines, and resourcing decisions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Automation, Hardware, QA/QC, and Business teams to align on product requirements, timelines, and trade-offs.
  • Represent engineering in cross-functional planning, ensuring the platform roadmap supports hardware and business milestones.
  • Work with Business stakeholders to understand customer/warehouse operational needs and translate them into technical requirements.

Technical Ownership (Hands-On)

  • Gather and analyze requirements for our applications and guide software architecture decisions across both frontend and backend.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and delivery of the robot management system's GUI and its backend services.
  • Guide the architecture of cloud-hosted services on Azure that support robot operation and warehouse management systems.
  • Continuously drive investment in better UI/UX, performance, and reliability across the platform.
  • Ensure new functionality is validated with actual robots and store environments before release.
  • Work towards scalable solution that can be re-sued in various upcoming solutions.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, with full-stack (frontend + backend) responsibility, including 3+ years in an engineering management or leadership role (managing engineers, owning hiring, and/or owning budget).
  • Track record of building and scaling engineering teams — hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers and/or managers.
  • Strong, hands-on experience with C# (.NET) development and TypeScript.
  • Professional experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure.
  • Experience with frontend application development (web or game-engine based UI).
  • Experience in software development on Linux and Windows OS.
  • Experience with all of the following: a) releasing applications to production, b) team development with Git, c) developing an app from scratch with UI/UX in mind, d) (nice to have) B2B applications.
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns such as Clean Architecture.
  • Full development → release → maintenance lifecycle experience: taking a project from zero to production and ongoing maintenance.
  • Creative mindset and strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance technical depth with business pragmatism.
  • Language: English (Functional), Japanese (conversational).

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience in robotics, logistics, or hardware-adjacent industries.
  • Knowledge of gRPC, MQTT, WebSocket, or similar communication protocols.
