This position provides an excellent opportunity for an experienced human services professional to take on a leadership role while directly supporting individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.

Position Overview The Assistant Bay Ridge Program Manager supports the Program Manager in the day-to-day operation of the Bay Ridge residential program. This position combines direct support, program coordination, staff leadership, and operational oversight to help ensure high-quality services and a safe, recovery-oriented environment for the individuals we serve.

The Assistant Program Manager will provide leadership coverage in the Program Manager's absence, support staff, coordinate care, assist with admissions and transitions, and help maintain compliance with agency policies and program standards.

Key Responsibilities

Recovery & Direct Support

  • Maintain current knowledge of individuals served, including diagnoses, psychiatric and medical history, treatment plans, medications, strengths, needs, and recovery goals.
  • Assist individuals in identifying, developing, and pursuing personalized recovery goals.
  • Assess individuals' stages of change and utilize appropriate, person-centered interventions.
  • Provide support with activities of daily living (ADLs), money management, meal planning and nutrition, shopping, cleaning, transportation, and other independent living skills.
  • Promote independence, self-determination, and community integration.
  • Consistently model and apply Recovery Model and trauma-informed care principles.

Program Leadership & Staff Supervision

  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and assist with emergency and on-call coverage.
  • Direct daily staff activities and provide guidance, coaching, and support.
  • Review employee timesheets for accuracy and compliance with overtime requirements.
  • Facilitate team meetings and ensure meeting minutes are completed and distributed.
  • Support effective communication and collaboration among program staff and other members of the treatment team.

Residential & Operational Oversight

  • Monitor the overall condition, safety, cleanliness, and functionality of program residences.
  • Coordinate maintenance and operational requests as needed.
  • Conduct routine checks of residential environments and identify potential safety concerns.
  • Report unsafe, hazardous, or otherwise unsuitable living conditions promptly.
  • Help ensure residences remain welcoming, safe, and supportive environments for individuals served.

Care Coordination & Medication Monitoring

  • Coordinate psychiatric and medical care with nurses, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and program staff.
  • Monitor medication administration in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Review medication supplies and inspect residential medication storage areas.
  • Identify and communicate medication concerns, discrepancies, or changes to nursing staff and the Program Manager.
  • Support continuity of care and communication across providers and services.

Admissions, Transitions & Crisis Intervention

  • Assist with referrals, admissions, new move-ins, transitions, and discharges.
  • Ensure residences are appropriately prepared for new individuals entering the program.
  • Recognize early warning signs of psychiatric or physical decompensation.
  • Utilize appropriate crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies to promote safety and stabilization.
  • Assess whether behavioral changes are related to situational stressors or potential symptom exacerbation and respond appropriately.
  • Collaborate with clinical and program leadership during crisis situations.
