Job description

About Shef

At Shef, we're bringing humanity back to mealtime by connecting people with the most talented chefs in their city. We give independent chefs—many of them award-winning, classically trained, or veterans of acclaimed kitchens—a platform to build their own following and a meaningful livelihood doing what they love.

We have raised over $100M from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Y Combinator, Craft Ventures, and M13, as well as founders and executives from Instacart, TaskRabbit, StubHub, AngelList, Lyft, Airbnb, and Yelp. We have a ton of exciting work ahead of us and are excited to have you join us!

We're building our very first in-person events program, and we're looking for outgoing, people-loving personalities to help bring it to life at some of the best food events, markets, and festivals in the city.

What you'll be doing

You'll be the face of Shef at farmers markets, food festivals, and community events around the city — striking up conversations, sharing what makes Shef special, and helping curious people discover their new favorite way to eat. If you love people, love food, and light up a room (or a booth), this is your kind of gig.

  • Represent Shef at a fun, high-energy table or booth for a shift (typically 4–8 hours)
  • Chat up passersby, answer questions, and get people excited about the brand
  • Help interested folks get started right there on the spot
  • Bring good energy — you set the tone for how people experience Shef that day
  • Quick, easy training before your first event so you feel confident and prepared

Who we're looking for

We care way more about your personality than your resume. You're a great fit if you're:

  • Genuinely enjoy talking to strangers — you make people feel comfortable and welcome
  • Outgoing and confident — you don't wait for people to come to you, you go say hi
  • Adaptable — busy events move fast and you roll with it, reading the room as you go
  • Dependable — when you commit to a shift, you show up ready to go

No marketing experience or degree required. This is a great fit for people with a background in retail, hospitality, serving/bartending, brand ambassador work, or anyone who's naturally the friend who talks to everyone at the party — including students with flexible schedules.

What you get

  • Competitive hourly pay plus bonus opportunities for top performers
  • Paid training
  • Flexible, pick-your-shifts scheduling once you're onboarded
  • A fun, social way to spend a weekend — great food, good energy, and a team that has your back

How to apply

Send us a quick note on:

  • Your availability (days/times you can typically work)
  • Any experience with retail, hospitality, events, or anything people-facing
  • What city/neighborhood you're based in
