Job description

ABOUT US

At OakNorth, we're on a mission to empower ambitious businesses and the communities they serve. Since 2015, we've lent over $21 billion across the UK and US, helped create more than 58,000 new homes and 36,000 new jobs, and supported hundreds of thousands of personal savers — all while driving economic growth in the markets we serve.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a junior IC role within the second line Risk and Compliance function, based in Gurgaon. You will report into the SVP, Assurance COE on a day-to-day basis, with functional oversight from the Deputy Head of Compliance and head of Operational Risk. You will be the operational backbone of the Risk and Compliance team — keeping registers accurate, governance reporting on track, and the Compliance Calendar running smoothly. Your work directly supports the Bank's ability to meet its regulatory obligations and maintain a clean compliance posture.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own the accuracy and timeliness of the Bank's core compliance registers — conflicts of interest, outside business interests, insider lists, and breach logs — conducting periodic reviews to ensure they remain current and audit-ready.
  • Support risk event reviews and breach management processes, helping to ensure issues are documented, tracked, and resolved in line with the Bank's policy framework.
  • Maintain and update Compliance and Risk policies and procedures, including oversight of the overall Policy Framework, ensuring documents reflect current regulatory requirements and internal standards.
  • Drive the Compliance Calendar, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure tasks are completed on time and governance reporting — including monthly and quarterly committee packs — is compiled and issued accurately.
  • Manage the Compliance Advisory mailbox, ensuring all incoming requests are logged, triaged, and directed appropriately, and providing administrative support to the wider team as needed.
  • Provide operational support to the wider Risk and Compliance function, as required.

YOU'LL BE A GREAT FIT IF YOU HAVE…

  • 1–3 years of experience in a compliance, risk, legal, or financial services environment — or a strong academic background in law, finance, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills — you can manage multiple registers, deadlines, and processes simultaneously without things slipping.
  • Clear written communication skills, with the ability to produce accurate management information and governance reports.
  • A proactive, ownership-oriented mindset — you flag issues early and follow through without being chased.
  • Comfort working in a regulated environment where process adherence and documentation quality matter.
  • Comfortable working with data, registers and trackers, with the ability to identify anomalies, gaps and emerging themes; confident engaging with stakeholders across the Bank.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with RBI, SEBI, or other Indian regulatory frameworks, or exposure to FCA/PRA requirements.
  • Experience using compliance management or GRC tools.
  • Exposure to governance committee processes or board-level reporting.

WHAT WE OFFER

  • Health & Protection — Medical cover for you, your family & parents; life and accidental cover at a multiple of your salary.
  • Wellbeing — Annual health check-ups, online doctor consultations, pharmacy discounts, nutritionist, EAP — all sponsored.
  • Time Off — Earned, casual/sick leave, public holidays, maternity & paternity leave.
  • Life Milestones — Financial gesture of support at marriage, childbirth, and bereavement.
  • Flexible Benefits — Tax-efficient allowances for internet, fuel, meals, leave & travel, and NPS.
  • Growth — Professional certifications support, learning & development opportunities, childcare benefits, paid volunteering days.
  • Our Workplace — Modern central offices, weekly business updates, team events & great coffee.
