Job description

About Base

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

About the Role

We’re hiring a full-time Creative Strategist to develop ideas that build Base’s audience, make our products easier to understand, and drive measurable customer growth. You’ll own the strategy and day-to-day execution of Base’s organic social channels while supporting creative strategy and execution across paid channels, especially Meta and YouTube. You’ll translate customer insights and performance data into original concepts, recurring series, scripts, and creative briefs. This is a strategy-led, hands-on role. You’ll create and publish organic content yourself, collaborate with others on paid creative, and use performance insights to improve both.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop audience insights, messaging angles, and creative concepts that make Base relevant to the customers we want to reach.
  • Own Base’s organic social strategy, content calendar, publishing, and audience engagement, prioritizing platforms and formats based on audience relevance and performance.
  • Create recurring content series and platform-native posts, including scripting, filming, editing, copywriting, and publishing.
  • Find compelling stories across Base’s customers, products, installations, employees, and mission. Balance planned content with timely company news and relevant cultural moments.
  • Develop hooks, scripts, storyboards, and production-ready briefs for paid channels, especially Meta and YouTube. Collaborate with designers, editors, and creators to guide execution.
  • Partner with growth marketing to develop creative testing hypotheses, interpret performance, and improve concepts based on engagement, conversion quality, and acquisition outcomes.
  • Manage assets, approvals, and deadlines. Bring thoughtful creative references to the team and turn learnings into stronger future work.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience developing creative strategy and social-first content for a consumer brand, product-led company, agency, or similarly fast-moving organization.
  • A portfolio demonstrating original ideas, strong execution, and measurable results across organic social and paid creative.
  • Strong copywriting and storytelling skills, with the ability to make technical or unfamiliar subjects clear, human, and interesting.
  • Hands-on content creation skills, including scripting, filming, editing, and publishing. Strong instincts for hooks, pacing, visuals, and platform fit.
  • Experience developing and iterating performance creative for Meta and YouTube, with an understanding of how organic content and paid advertising serve different objectives.
  • A data-informed approach to creative. You can explain your choices, interpret results, and propose a specific next test.
  • Strong organization, collaboration, and creative judgment, with the ability to manage an organic calendar alongside paid creative projects.

Portfolio Please include three to five examples of work you helped create, covering both organic social and paid creative. For each, briefly explain the audience insight, objective, your contribution, and what you learned from its performance. Results may be anonymized where needed.

About This Team

The Marketing team at Base is lean, high-ownership, and results-driven. We operate with clear accountability, tight feedback loops, and a strong bias toward action. Marketing works closely with design, sales, product, and operations to support the rapid buildout of America’s next-generation power company.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

Our Values

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

Do the best work of your life at Base.

Why work at Base Power Company

  • Culture: Described as "intense, fast-paced, and deeply mission-driven." The company demands high output, ownership, and a bias toward action. It's explicitly stated as "not for everyone, and that's by design." This is a high-ownership, low-ambiguity environment.
  • Work Model: On-site at Base HQ in Austin, Texas. Proximity to the product and team is central to how they move fast. "Do I need to be based in Texas? Yes."
  • Hiring Speed: Fast process — aim for 1st conversation to offer in ~2 weeks.
  • Interview Process: 3-4 hour on-site including technical assessments and behavioral/team conversations. Focus on "how [you] approach problems, communicate tradeoffs, and collaborate."
  • Non-traditional backgrounds: Explicitly welcome: "We care about what you've built and how you think, not the logos on your resume. Some of our best people came from non-traditional paths."
  • Engineering Culture: Heavy focus on hardware + software + field operations. Talent sources heavily from Tesla, Anduril, SpaceX — firms known for hardcore engineering and manufacturing excellence. Roles span hardware engineering, firmware, software, manufacturing, field installation/service, operations, growth, and design.
  • Team Composition: ~29% of employees are in technical roles; ~15% in operations; significant representation of trades workers (11).
  • Notable Perks: Opportunity to work on physical infrastructure deployed at scale; chance to contribute meaningfully to grid modernization and American energy resilience.
