Job description

Join the team building an AI-first company. Hostinger serves more than 5.5 million clients across 150 countries, but we're still excited about what we're creating next. AI is changing how we build products, support customers, work together, and solve problems. It helps us move faster, spend less time on repetitive work, and focus on bigger ideas. If you want your work to influence both what we build and how we build it, we'd like to meet you. Our culture: Guided by 10 company principles

Your role at Hostinger

As Engineering Director, you'll report directly to our VP of Engineering and work closely with our Head of Delivery, owning an important “Shared Services / Platform” area of our product department. You will be expected to raise the bar for how teams are run, and take direct ownership of teams and problems as they're handed to you. The “Shared Services / Platform” area consists of PHP (Laravel/Symfony) and Vue.js-heavy teams such as: Websites, Billing, Payments, Platform, and Internal Tools. The teams ensure we deliver shared capabilities once, enable and unblock our colleagues and commercial product teams to move faster.

Your day-to-day

  • Hire, coach, mentor, and grow Engineering Managers and Tech Leads, helping them raise their own ambitions rather than settle for "business as usual"
  • Take direct ownership of underperforming teams or unresolved problems - roll up your sleeves and fix them yourself when needed.
  • Champion a "you build it, you own it" culture: full accountability from writing code through production - observability, incident response, postmortems, and learning from failure.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business - product, other engineering leaders, and cross-functional partners - to make sure the right problems get addressed, not just the loudest ones.
  • Bring clarity and structure to a fast-moving, sometimes ambiguous environment, without slowing it down.
  • Champion AI-assisted engineering across your teams, and help close any gaps in AI adoption.
  • Help define how outcome and impact - not just output - gets measured and communicated for platform and internal-facing teams, where the connection to revenue isn't always obvious.

Your expertise and experience

  • 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
  • A track record of building and owning products and services in production over the long run.
  • Real comfort with, or strong openness to, PHP (Laravel/Symfony), Python, Node.JS, GO, and/or Vue.js - true generalists who can pick up any stack, with the help of AI tools, tend to thrive here.
  • Genuine, active enthusiasm for AI-assisted engineering; you're expected to pull your teams forward on adoption, not catch up to them.
  • Comfort operating with ambiguity, evolving processes, and fast-changing priorities.
  • A resilient, self-directed way of working - this is a senior, largely independent role without a large peer group at the same level.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to give and take direct feedback.
  • Experience scaling up from a smaller company or startup is a plus, as is a background in digital, consumer-facing (B2C) product companies.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
