Job description
With multiple awards to our name, Larian Studios has proven that we’re dedicated to delivering high-quality role-playing games As we move on to new projects, the studio that brought you Baldur’s Gate 3 & Divinity: Original Sin 2 is looking for an Environment Artist to join the team and help us in crafting the high calibre games our fans have come to expect.
Responsibilities
- Work together with people from a variety of teams such as concept artists, level designers, scripters, VFX artists and technical artists
- Translate concept art into 3D assets with Art direction in mind
- Ability to decorate levels delivered from level designers to shipping quality
- Fundamental understanding of performance constraints and optimizing assets for real time rendered applications on modern hardware
Requirements
- A minimum of 2+ years of previous relevant experience in a similar position
- Experience in Level Art and set dressing. Ability to take rough layout maps and populate them with assets (buildings, vegetation, props) to create environmental storytelling and believable worlds
- Proficiency with Game Editors such as Unreal Engine, Unity or proprietary editors
- Proficiency in 3D software such as: Maya, 3ds Max or Blender
- Experience in 3D sculpting software such as Zbrush
- Proficiency in Texturing software such as Substance Painter for creating PBR correct textures
- Exemplary written and verbal communication skills
- This is a full-time, on-site role, requiring your presence in the office to support collaboration and creativity
Nice to Haves
- Experience working with photogrammetry. scanning, processing and cleaning up
- Proficiency in following software: Marvelous Designer, Substance Designer, Speedtree, RealityCapture or Houdini
- Ability to develop procedural workflows
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or MEL script
- Traditional Art background, ability to conceptualize or portray ideas by painting or sketching them out
- Strong artistic and technical skills. Understanding of how composition, shape, scale, colors and lighting can help push environments forward
