Job description
ABOUT SAGE CARE
Sage Care is a fast-growing, early-stage healthcare startup founded by exceptional leaders from Apple, Uber, Carbon Health and backed by top-tier venture capital (General Catalyst, Chelsea Clinton). With a strong customer pipeline, Sage Care is transforming healthcare by simplifying care navigation.
Our platform makes it easier for patients to find the right doctor and helps providers focus on those who need them most through harnessing the latest AI innovations.
Building on our successful collaborations with health systems across the U.S., we have expanded internationally to the MENA region. We are now partnering with health systems there to deploy our AI-powered care navigation platform.
ABOUT THE ROLE
A core part of our product is integrating with healthcare partners through Epic to read and write critical data—including provider information, referrals, patient charts and history, and clinical workflows. These integrations power key products such as Provider Matching, Scheduling, Referral Recommendations, and AI voice agents.
As an Epic Integration Specialist, you will own the full lifecycle of these integrations, working closely with healthcare partners, product leaders, engineers, and AI/ML teams. You’ll translate partner requirements and workflows into reliable, scalable integrations while solving the unique challenges that come with integrating with Epic across different healthcare organizations.
This role sits at the intersection of healthcare data, integration engineering, AI/ML, and partner management. We’re looking for someone with deep hands-on experience integrating with Epic as a third party, who can creatively navigate integration challenges and help build scalable API integration solutions. You should also be comfortable working directly with clients to understand their workflows, drive projects toward launch, and build strong, trusted relationships.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Build and own EPIC and other EHR integrations.
- Identify APIs to read/write data to EPIC based on product needs.
- Architect integrations with EPIC based on the healthcare partner’s unique setup.
- Create an overarching framework to unify these integrations to work with our products.
- Enable scaling of this integration infrastructure to work across all healthcare partners.
Build relationships with partners
- Work with partner healthcare providers to understand their system to build integrations with them
- Drive the integration effort
- Create a relationship to maintain integrations long term.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
Required
- 5+ years of Software engineering experience.
- Experience working with EPIC integrations is a must.
- Experience working closely with partners in iterative fashion gathering feedback along the way.
- Strong backend engineering skills and systems thinking.
- Experience working with ambiguous problems and defining solutions from first principles.
- Experience turning novel techniques into testable prototypes.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on products that deal with reading referrals and patient data from EPIC.
- Experience with medical AI systems.
- Experience with extraction of text/data from PDFs and Images.
Example Things you’ve Done
- Built extensible 3rd party integrations with EPIC for medical data across multiple partners.
- Worked extensively with FHIR and HL7 interfaces.
- Integrated with other EHR systems.
