Job description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator, Program Lead for our Preconstruction Team. Estimators are responsible for accurately determining the total costs associated with a construction project by executing a detailed line-item budget for each trade. The ideal candidate must have an acute attention to detail and demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment with fixed deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed conceptual budgets and estimating from pre-construction, concept design, schematic design and design development documents
  • Execute detailed take-offs of all trades. Initiate and manage entire bid process (construction management and general contractor) inclusive of preparation of detailed bid package
  • Ensure accurate and proper submissions & proposals by all subcontractors
  • National, regional, and local subcontractor acquisition and prequalification for projects in new markets throughout the Northeast
  • Facilitate review and presentation of bids to internal project management partners and clients
  • Partnership with other Estimators and Estimating Coordinators supporting the Programs team to ensure accuracy and consistency of all bids
  • Collaboration with Project Managers to develop scope sheets and leveling sheets
  • Development of relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal partners
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, clients, and subcontractors
  • Work collaboratively with field team to communicate deliverables and procurement schedules
  • Level subcontractor bid proposals for accuracy and scope gaps
  • Prepare scope of work documentation by division
  • Attend and lead subcontractor calls and meetings as needed
  • Conduct on-site walk-throughs as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in budgeting and Estimating for commercial construction projects.
  • Experience with open store remodels and store expansions for national big box retailers along with knowledge of multi-shift schedules
  • Experience with GMAX and/or GMP bidding strategies
  • Comprehensive subcontractor qualification and leveling
  • Proven ability to compile complete estimates and hard bid packages with trade breakdowns
  • Procurement and MS Project scheduling experience
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to lead or participate in meetings with subcontractors, clients, owners, and architects as needed
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task, and deliver on deadlines for multiple concurrent projects
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in reading commercial construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to value-engineer a project
  • College degree preferred or comparable professional experience
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong knowledge of MS Project, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Procore, On-Screen Takeoff, and Building Connected experience preferred
