Why Bureau? Bureau is building the infrastructure that makes digital identities and transactions safe and trustworthy for billions of people. The mission is big, the problems are complex, and the impact is real. We hire people who want that level of responsibility. People who move fast, build systems from scratch, and care deeply about turning strategy into execution. If you want predictability or narrow scope, this won't be your place. If you want to shape how a scaling global company operates—keep reading.

About the Role - Finance Associate

Behind every fast-growing company is a finance engine that runs like clockwork, and that's where you come in. As our Finance Associate, you'll keep the books sharp, the numbers honest and every Bureau employee paid right and on time. To be clear up front: payroll is a core expectation of this role, and you'll own it end to end. But it's not a payroll-only job. You'll get a real blend of finance work too, from vendor payments and reconciliations to month-end close, compliance and audits, so you grow as an all-round finance professional.

What you’ll be doing

  • Payroll, end-to-end: run monthly payroll, handle inputs, full-and-final settlements, reimbursements and payslip queries so nobody ever worries about their salary.
  • Statutory compliance: TDS, PF, ESI, PT and Form 16, filed accurately and on deadline.
  • Day-to-day finance: vendor payments, invoicing, expense tracking and bank reconciliations.
  • Month-end close: support book closing, accruals and MIS reports the leadership team actually relies on.
  • Audits and controls: keep documentation audit-ready and help tighten processes as we scale.
  • Automation: spot the manual, repetitive work and help us replace it with smarter tools.

What You’ll Bring

To shine here, you should have:

  • 1-3 years of hands-on payroll experience, ideally with broader finance or accounting work alongside it.
  • A B.Com, M.Com, MBA (Finance) or a CA Inter / similar qualification.
  • Working knowledge of Indian payroll statutory compliance and Tally, Zoho or a similar accounting tool.
  • Strong Excel skills, a sharp eye for detail and a love for numbers that add up.
  • Discretion with confidential data and a calm, friendly way of answering "where's my salary?" questions.

Bonus points for experience in a startup or fintech, or with HRMS and payroll platforms. Our Culture

  • We hire self-motivated people and get out of their way
  • We value performance, not hours worked
  • Speed, ownership, and impact matter most

Compensation

  • Competitive salary + potential equity
  • Health benefits, flexible PTO, learning budget

Why work at Bureau

  • Perks & Benefits (from Built In): Generous parental leave, paid sick days, performance bonuses, gym membership, generous PTO, bereavement leave, family and childcare benefits, health and wellness benefits, learning and development opportunities, and a gaming zone to unplug.
  • Growth Environment: Fast-growing startup (est. 2020, 187 employees) with opportunities for ownership and impact in a high-stakes domain.
  • Locations: Primarily in-office in Bangalore, with additional offices in San Francisco and Mumbai. Some remote possibilities.
