Finance Lead at Namespace (New York, NY)

Role details
Job description
Join our mission We're proud to work with many incredible companies, accelerating their ability to build their products. We've spent years watching talented engineering teams lose momentum to the same frustrating bottleneck: waiting. Waiting for CI to finish. Waiting for builds to complete. Waiting for tests to run. After experiencing this pain firsthand at companies of every size, we set out to build the developer infrastructure platform we'd always wanted to use. Something that would seamlessly integrate with our workflows and the tools teams already love—but make everything dramatically faster and more cost-effective. Today, we're already accelerating hundreds of companies around the world, helping them ship features instead of waiting for infrastructure. We've built something that feels almost magical in its simplicity: change your runs-on line, mount your toolchain cache directory and suddenly your builds are 5x faster.
About the role
We're looking for a Finance Lead to own and build out the finance function at Namespace as we scale. This is a hands-on role for someone who can connect the day-to-day financial operations of the business with a clear view of where we're going. You'll own budgeting, forecasting, cash and runway planning, and financial reporting, while helping us understand the economics behind our infrastructure investments and business. You will be working closely with our leadership team on hardware investments, leasing, unit economics and planning ahead. You'll also coordinate our external accountants and other finance partners and continuously improve the systems and processes behind how we manage the business. We're looking for someone who is comfortable operating in a fast-moving startup, enjoys building things from the ground up, and can move easily between financial models, operational details, and strategic decisions.
Our culture We're looking for people with grit—people who push through ambiguity, take ownership, and keep going when things get hard. You're deeply curious, driven to understand how things work and how they can be improved. Most importantly, you have a strong bias to execution: you don't wait for perfect conditions, you ship, learn, and iterate quickly. If you care about building, moving fast, and making real impact, you'll fit right in.
What you'll do
- Own the annual budget, rolling forecasts, and cash and runway planning, and maintain the company financial model with scenarios for growth, hiring, and capital needs
- Model purchase, financing, and lease options for servers and data center capacity (cost of capital, depreciation, residual value), and support data center decisions with clear cost and return analysis
- Translate the numbers for every audience: investors, the board, the CEO and COO, accountants, and financing partners
- Own the monthly and annual close and prepare consolidated US GAAP financials (FX translation, intercompany eliminations), working with external accountants in the US, Switzerland, and Germany
- Build and own our customer pricing model, linking prices to infrastructure and financing costs, and partner with leadership on pricing strategy and deal-level economics
- Track cost structure, unit economics, and gross margin by product and customer
- Produce monthly management reporting and prepare board and investor materials, supporting fundraising and financing processes
- Design and improve financial processes, controls, and systems as we scale, and manage external accountants, tax advisors, and other finance partners
- Keep our books audit-ready and own the chart of accounts and its mapping across entities
- Manage our equipment lease programs and relationships with lessors and lenders, including ASC 842 lease accounting
- Help define when and how the finance team grows
What we're looking for
- Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling
- Experience working in a startup or similarly fast-moving environment, ideally helping build or scale a finance function
- Experience with hardware, infrastructure, or lease management
- Strong understanding of cost structures, unit economics, and margin analysis
- Experience managing accountants and external finance partners
- You can translate financial data into clear insights and recommendations for leadership
- You’re comfortable digging into the details while keeping the bigger financial picture in mind
- You’re highly organized and able to manage multiple financial workstreams and deadlines
- You enjoy taking ownership, building processes, and solving problems hands-on
- You’re comfortable operating with ambiguity and creating structure where it doesn’t exist yet
You can expect:
- Competitive salary and stock options
- Flexible working hours
- Market-leading parental leave
Life at Namespace Labs:
- We pride ourselves in being a small team of experts that can achieve a lot.
- We balance our long-term vision with short-term pragmatism.
- We believe in being fully transparent internally on how decisions are made, on how the company is doing, and we use that information to drive our decisions.
Why work at Namespace
- Culture: “Love infrastructure and working with developers”; team of former Google engineers building the future of software development. Emphasis on shipping features instead of waiting for infrastructure.
