Cortea AI· London, United Kingdom·
Role details
Job description
ABOUT CORTEA
We're Cortea, a European audit-tech company, born in Berlin, rebuilding how audits are done everywhere.
Audits are still driven by spreadsheets, checklists, and manual reviews in one of the most regulated, high-stakes areas of business. We use AI to automate audits end to end, so highly educated auditors no longer spend 60+ hour weeks on manual work and can focus on judgment, trust, and choices that matter.
With €15m+ in funding, a live product, and paying customers across Europe, we're at a stage where your choices will directly shape Cortea's future, and how audits are done.
THE ROLE
This is a role for an experienced auditor who enjoys the client side of the profession: building relationships, leading discussions, and earning the trust of sceptical practitioners. As part of Cortea's UK go-to-market team, you are the subject-matter expert who gives our commercial work credibility: you speak with auditors as a peer, lead methodology conversations with prospects and customers, and help turn pilots into long-term partnerships. Colleagues own the sales playbook, forecasting, and deal mechanics, while you own trust, expertise, and account growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Audit Expertise: Act as the audit subject-matter expert in Cortea's UK go-to-market unit, joining demos, pilots, and customer conversations as the credible auditor in the room
Customer Relationships & Growth: Be a key point of contact for our UK customers throughout pilots and rollouts; deepen relationships at existing customers, identify upsell opportunities, and lead methodology conversations that grow accounts
Industry Voice: Build a visible public presence for Cortea: be active on LinkedIn, speak at industry events, and evangelise AI-supported auditing to the UK profession
Market Insight: Feed customer and market insight back to our product team to sharpen the UK roadmap
Berlin Collaboration: Travel regularly to our Berlin hub to work closely with the founders and go-to-market colleagues
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum 5 years of financial audit experience (Big 4 or leading mid-tier firms preferred)
- ACA (ICAEW), ACCA, or equivalent chartered accountancy qualification
- A confident, client-facing communicator: you enjoy presenting, networking, and representing your firm publicly, including at events and on LinkedIn
- Comfortable taking ownership in a young, fast-moving company: you handle ambiguity well, work towards clear commercial targets, and enjoy building processes rather than following established ones
- Strong grasp of ISA, UK GAAP, IFRS, and the Companies Act 2006, enough to hold your own in methodology discussions with partners
- Native in English, German is a plus
- Right to work in the UK required; we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role
BENEFITS
- Competitive salary plus equity participation
- High-impact role at the intersection of audit and AI, with the chance to build Cortea's UK customer base and public presence
- Hybrid collaboration from our London office, with regular trips to our Berlin hub
- 25+ days holiday allowance
- Pension contribution
- Private medical insurance
INTERVIEW PROCESS
- Intro call with Tim linkedin.com/tim-tuesfeld (Founders Associate)
- Technical audit interview with Philipp linkedin.com/philipp-hoevelmann (Co-Founder)
- GTM & Collaboration Fit interview with Valentin linkedin.com/valentinneumann (Co-Founder)
- On-site session (Berlin): run a mock methodology conversation with a sceptical audit partner, focused on credibility, objection handling, and expansion thinking
Why work at Cortea AI
- Culture: “Builders, not managers” – bias for action, ship this week, not next quarter. Small team (12 people), high ownership, direct feedback, low ego.
- Remote / Hybrid / Office: Roles are advertised as on‑site in Berlin (e.g., Marketing, Engineering). However, the company already has distributed presence (France, Netherlands), so some flexibility may be possible – confirm during application.
- Notable Perks / Engineering Culture:
- Everyone uses AI to multiply their own output – an “AI‑native” company, not just an AI product.
- Deep work environment: “We love going deep” – they look for people who have gone unusually deep on a problem, regardless of domain.
- High‑performance + warmth: Ambitious but not arrogant, human at heart.
- Build with rigor and care – the work directly shapes how trust is created in the global economy.
