Job description

AgentMail is building the identity layer for AI agents, starting with email. Most of our growth has come from community. Reddit threads, Discord, X, word of mouth, and builders shipping in public are what got us here. We're looking for a Founding PLG & Community Lead to own that engine: the communities where builders find us and the experiments that turn their attention into activation.

AgentMail has raised $6M from investors including General Catalyst, Y Combinator, Paul Graham (founder of YC), Karim Atiyeh (founder of Ramp), Paul Copplestone (founder of Supabase), and Dharmesh Shah (founder of HubSpot).

You'll work on:

  • Owning and assigning the budget across all our PLG efforts
  • Our Discord and Reddit presence: useful, credible participation that builds trust with builders and, increasingly, with the AI models reading the same threads
  • Generating our posting strategy for LinkedIn and X, from what we say to how often we say it
  • PostHog and experimentation: understanding what our signups actually do, then designing and running your own funnel and activation experiments
  • The events program: hackathon sponsorships, conferences, dinners, and making our SF office a gathering place for the agent ecosystem
  • UGC and social content: finding builders doing interesting things with AgentMail and amplifying them
  • Launch amplification across every community channel
  • Shipping fast alongside founders and engineers: idea to live experiment in the same week

You're a fit if:

  • You're extroverted and enjoy being the person who brings a community together, online and in person
  • You work cross functionally by default
  • You express your opinion early, especially when you think we're wrong
  • You go deep on messy technical problems, whether that's funnel data, a broken demo, or a landing page test you ship yourself
  • You know the difference between authentic participation and astroturf

Plus if you have DevRel or community experience at a devtools or infra company, plus existing standing in AI and agent builder communities. Comfort on camera helps.

Compensation: $110K to $175K, plus 0.2% to 0.5% equity.

PS. our bar for this position is ridiculously high. We are aiming to build one of the most distributed products of all time. If selected for an interview, expect growth discussions and case studies as part of our process.

Why work at AgentMail

  • Culture: Small, YC-backed team (10 people) working on hard infrastructure problems at the intersection of email protocols and AI. Founders have backgrounds at Optiver, NVIDIA, and Accel. ycombinator.com
  • Remote/Hybrid: Based in San Francisco; likely in-office given the early-stage startup nature, but not explicitly stated.
  • Perks & Engineering Culture: Competitive salary ($110K–$400K depending on role) plus meaningful equity (0.20%–2.00%). Opportunity to shape the product from the ground up, work with cutting-edge AI tooling, and join a fast-growing company backed by top investors. ycombinator.com
