Job description
Mission:
We are automating construction end to end to usher in a new era of abundance and beauty in the physical world in the coming decades. Over the past fifty years, the West’s ability to design and build large scale infrastructure has atrophied, and the entire industry has become less productive. With decaying infrastructure, power shortages, and an aging workforce, the only way through is to hyper-scale development with technology at a rate never before seen.
Our team believes that this is the most important work of our lives, and there’s no more significant place to spend our time than on solving these problems. We believe in the sacrifices that we must make to achieve our mission and build a world of abundance. We believe the future can be amazing, but only if we work gut-wrenchingly hard to make it so. Our work is bigger than all of us, and our obsession with manifesting is what drives us. Roughly 50% of our team are former founders, and we strive for technical excellence, but quell our egos to ensure that the best ideas always win.
We acknowledge the long and arduous path ahead to achieve our ambitions; that many of the most difficult challenges have yet to even be revealed to us; that the chance of failure is not only possible, but likely. Most of all, we believe that there is no other option: we will either revolutionize how humanity builds or die trying.
The role: We're hiring hardware engineers from mechanical, electrical, mechatronics, robotics, aerospace, and related backgrounds. We're especially interested in candidates whose work has spanned more than one of these disciplines, in industries like automotive, aerospace, or robotics. In this role, you will lead engineering development to expand and refine capabilities within our automated design engine product, where we leverage AI to automate every step of the engineering process to produce end design deliverables for the construction of large scale capital projects such as utility scale power and data centers.
This role is in-person in San Francisco, CA.
What we're looking for:
- Owned end-to-end engineering scope within a multidisciplinary products, such as launch vehicles, motorsports, robotics, aerospace, etc
- T-shaped technical excellence: broad understanding across multiple domains and how they interact, implications of trade-offs, etc, while also having deep technical expertise in 1-2 areas
- Evidence of strong first principles thinking: someone who has challenged and broken through conventional wisdom or “this is how we’ve always done it” syndrome within their industry to create a step-function improvement
- Excitement to work in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and embrace extreme ownership
- The ability to prioritize impact by ruthlessly finding the bottlenecks and solving the most important problems
- Hands-on builders who can speak to the excruciating minutia and details of their work, and excited to execute instead of manage/organize others work
- Mission alignment and desire to build a future of abundance
Experience: Actively hiring for every experience level (new-grad, early-career, mid-level, senior, etc)
Bonus:
- Experience building your own simulation, calculation, or analysis software tools or other applications. A large part of this role is turning your engineering knowledge into scalable software; even if you’ve barely written software before, you’ll leverage recent advancements in AI coding agents to assist you in building these tools
Why work at Unlimited
