Head of Supply Chain at Furientis (Los Angeles, CA)

Furientis· Los Angeles, CA·

Role details

Work type
Onsite

Job description

America is critically deficient in production of defensive munitions- we currently produce shipborne interceptors in the few hundreds per year while our adversaries are producing offensive threats in the tens of thousands per year. Furientis was started to help solve this problem- introducing a new class of cost-effective, high production rate, interceptor missiles. We're seeking motivated individuals who internalize this problem and are eager to apply their past experience in similar industries (aerospace, defense, automotive/racing, robotics) and out of the box thinking to solve this problem for the US and its allies.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly capable Head of Supply Chain to own sourcing, procurement, vendor management, and bill of materials execution across the company.

This is a hands-on role at a fast-moving aerospace hardware startup where supply chain is tightly integrated with engineering execution. You’ll work closely with engineers to manage BOMs, track part effectivity and configuration changes, drive make-vs-buy decisions, coordinate suppliers, secure competitive pricing, and ensure critical hardware arrives on time.

You will become the central source of truth for where parts are coming from, what they cost, what their lead times are, and what risks exist across the supply chain. The right person is extremely organized, detail-oriented, technically literate, and operates with a high level of urgency and ownership.

This role is best suited for someone who has worked in a small, rapidly moving R&D or hardware startup environment where priorities shift quickly and execution speed matters.

What You'll Do

  • Own procurement, sourcing, and supply chain execution across hardware programs
  • Maintain and manage bill of materials (BOM) tracking, configuration status, and part effectivity
  • Work closely with engineering teams to support design iteration, sourcing strategy, and make-vs-buy decisions
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships across machining, fabrication, electronics, raw materials, and other hardware vendors
  • Source components and manufacturing partners while securing competitive pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules
  • Track the status, cost, availability, and risk profile of sourced hardware across all programs
  • Coordinate RFQs, purchase orders, vendor communication, and procurement workflows
  • Identify supply chain bottlenecks and proactively drive mitigation plans
  • Build operational systems and processes to improve procurement speed, traceability, and reliability
  • Support rapid prototyping and fast-turn hardware development environments where priorities evolve quickly

Skills We're Hiring For

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (engineering, supply chain, operations, business).
  • 6+ years owning the supply chain or strategic sourcing function for a hardware system.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage complex BOMs and track rapidly evolving hardware configurations
  • Strong vendor management and negotiation skills
  • Experience working closely with engineering teams in fast-paced hardware development environments
  • Ability to operate independently and drive execution with minimal oversight
  • Strong analytical and cost-management instincts
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional coordination skills
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and accountability
  • Ability to manage many parallel workstreams without losing track of details

Bonus Points For

  • Experience at an aerospace, defense, robotics, automotive, or other advanced hardware startup
  • Experience supporting rapid R&D or prototype-heavy hardware development programs
  • Familiarity with machining, fabrication, composites, electronics, propulsion, or aerospace supply chains
  • Experience with ERP, MRP, PLM, or procurement management systems
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing methods and hardware production workflows
  • Experience managing long-lead or high-risk components
  • Experience building supply chain infrastructure at an early-stage company
  • Technical background or ability to read engineering drawings and hardware documentation
  • Experience supporting both prototype and low-rate production environments

Why work at Furientis

  • High-impact mission: Work directly on solving a critical U.S. national security shortage—the ability to produce defensive munitions at the volumes needed to counter modern threats.
  • Fast-paced engineering culture: Four-week design cycles, monthly flight tests, and a "build and break things" mentality that contrasts with slow, traditional defense primes.
  • Elite team and mentorship: Leadership includes veterans of Virgin Galactic, Virgin Orbit, and Castelion (a hypersonics startup that raised $350M). Advisors/investors include founders of Anduril and Armada—among the most successful modern defense startups.
  • On-site in Los Angeles: Roles are on-site in the Playa Vista / El Segundo area. The office is notably located in Lenny Kravitz’s former studio.
  • Early-stage equity: Joining at pre-seed stage ($5M raised) provides significant ownership potential for early engineers alongside a small, tight-knit team (11-50 employees).
  • Active hiring: As of mid-2026, open roles include Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer, Perception Hardware Integration Engineer, and Finance Manager.
