About the Position

Old Mission is looking for a Junior Trading Ops/DevOps Engineer to join our growing team in Chicago. You'd work within the technology landscape safeguarding the performance and stability of proprietary trading systems and related hardware, with direct ownership of technical issues in in-house trading applications. The role blends SRE, Operations Engineer, and DevOps Engineer responsibilities.

What you'll do

  • Deploy, run, and monitor production latency-sensitive trading applications
  • Automate trading infrastructure/application management in Python
  • Triage and resolve live incidents in a fast-paced trading environment
  • Create and integrate monitoring and alerting
  • Work with Linux, network, and datacenter engineers to troubleshoot issues and optimize trading performance
  • Assist with rollout of new products, systems, and exchanges
  • Conduct user acceptance testing across internal trading application stacks
  • Review incidents for recurring themes and feed technical requirements back into the development cycle

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related Engineering/Science discipline
  • 0-2 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong programming ability
  • High proficiency in Python on Linux Platforms
  • Networking knowledge/interest is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting instincts and root-cause discipline
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn how systems fit together
  • Ability to work under pressure and with frequent interruption
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration ability

Base Salary Range

$150,000 - $200,000 - Salaries are based on numerous factors such as skills, experience, and education. Our compensation package also includes a discretionary bonus and a comprehensive benefits program for full-time employees. For more information, reach out to your recruiter.
