Cloud accounting and financial-management software for small businesses and their advisors.

Xero is cloud-based accounting software for small businesses and the accountants and bookkeepers who serve them. It automates invoicing, bank reconciliation, bill and expense capture, reporting and cash-flow forecasting, and connects to more than 1,000 third-party apps. Its newer AI agent, JAX, automates routine tasks and answers plain-language questions about a business's finances.

Job description

The role / impact

This is a rare chance to shape how an entire technology organization works in the AI era. Rather than shipping another standalone AI feature, you'll build the shared platforms and operating models that make AI-native delivery possible across Xero, spanning AI harnesses that help teams build faster with the right guard rails, gateways that makes using models safe and efficient, and agents that help reduce toil.

You'll drive initiatives spanning across the full delivery lifecycle, combining strategy, execution and measurable organizational impact. You'll drive decision-making across products and teams, connect work happening in different phases of development, and train and coach others to build strong AI product practice. In line with our value to Go Bold, you'll set goals that stretch the team and help rethink, and not just solve, the problems in front of you.

The team / how they connect

This group shapes how products connect to Xero's wider AI strategy and objectives, and looks after the tools and ways of working that help thousands of Xeros deliver value. You'll build close relationships with Engineering, Security, Data and several other teams, keeping decisions joined up across the business.

The team is currently working on / Initially, you will focus on

  • Building and scaling the shared capabilities behind Xero's AI-native delivery model.
  • Aligning stakeholders on strategy and priorities, and setting baselines for adoption, delivery speed, cost, quality and technology health.
  • Publishing quarterly roadmaps, operating model and governance approach for the initiatives.
  • Moving the highest-value workflows from pilot into repeatable adoption

Where and how you can work

We support a flexible working model that empowers you to balance your professional and personal life. You will have the option to work in a hybrid capacity, combining the focus of remote work with the collaboration of our office spaces and team boost days to foster connection and alignment.

Here are some of the things we are looking for, for this role

  • You bring strong platform product management experience, ideally across developer tools, infrastructure, data or AI.
  • You think in systems, comfortably joining the dots across various phases and teams.
  • Translating complex technical possibilities into clear outcomes and investment decisions comes naturally to you.
  • Your approach to discovery, delivery and measurement is outcome-focused, and you know how to prove what's working.
  • Ambiguity, evolving technology and incomplete information don't throw you off course.
  • Curiosity and pragmatism sit alongside the resilience to turn early experiments into scalable products.

Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
