Role details
Job description
What to Expect Heron Power is a startup company building cutting-edge power electronics for the 21st-century grid. We aim to debottleneck the growth of electricity generation and consumption with scalable, innovative, and less costly hardware solutions, accelerating the electrification of everything. Our first goal is to build better converters (inverters & rectifiers) to connect large-scale renewables, storage, and loads to the grid. Heron Power’s leadership team is made up of seasoned veterans who have designed and shipped gigawatts of power conversion products over the past decade. We understand that no one individual knows everything. We will all learn a lot together and from each other. We strive to build a collaborative, enriching environment conducive to personal, technical, and career growth. You can expect to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, driven by first principles engineering, solving difficult problems.
Job Overview As a Logistics Manager, you’ll build and run the logistics engine that moves every part into Heron Power and every Heron Link out to our customers. In this hands-on role, you’ll own inbound and outbound freight, import and customs compliance, and our network of carriers, forwarders, and 3PL partners, from early NPI builds through the ramp to volume production. You’ll partner closely with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Finance, and Customer Operations to keep material moving on time, at the right cost, and in full compliance as we scale our operations.
How You Will Contribute
- Own end-to-end inbound and outbound logistics, including domestic and international freight across ocean, air, LTL, FTL, and expedited modes.
- Plan and execute delivery of large Heron Link units to customer sites, including rigging, permitting, specialized carriers, and on-site handoff.
- Select, negotiate with, and manage freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and 3PL partners, with clear KPIs for cost, transit time, and damage rates.
- Lead import and trade compliance, including HTS classification, Incoterms strategy, duties and tariffs, country of origin documentation, and export controls.
- Partner with the warehouse and manufacturing teams to design receiving, storage, packaging, and shipping processes for Factory One as we ramp to start of production.
- Build logistics cost models, landed cost analyses, and dashboards that give leadership clear visibility into freight spend, lead times, and risks.
- Manage dangerous goods and specialty shipments (for example lithium batteries and moisture or ESD-sensitive electronics) in line with DOT, IATA, and IMDG requirements.
- Partner with our in-house software team to build and improve shipment tracking, booking, and logistics data systems.
What You Will Bring
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on logistics leader who can build processes from the ground up in a fast-paced hardware environment. Scope and responsibilities will grow with the right candidate, including the opportunity to build and lead a logistics team.
Must Have Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, business, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, or trade compliance, ideally in hardware, electrical equipment, or industrial manufacturing
- Hands-on experience managing international freight, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, with a strong working knowledge of Incoterms, HTS classification, and import documentation
- Track record of negotiating freight contracts and reducing logistics cost without sacrificing reliability
- Experience coordinating heavy, oversized, or high-value shipments
- Strong analytical skills in Excel or Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, cost modeling)
- Clear communicator who escalates problems early and drives issues to closure across teams and partners
Nice to Haves
- Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) or CSCMP, APICS/ASCM, or similar certification
- Experience shipping power electronics, transformers, switchgear, or energy storage equipment
- Experience with dangerous goods shipping certification (DOT, IATA, IMDG)
- Experience standing up logistics for a new factory or during a production ramp
- Experience with an ERP or TMS (for example NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or Flexport)
If you are passionate about technology and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you. Join us in accelerating the electrification of everything at Heron Power. Heron Power provides competitive compensation (salary and equity) and benefits. The base salary range for this role is from $120,000 to $170,000 per year.
Why work at Heron Power

- Notable perks: Opportunity to work alongside a team with deep expertise from Tesla, Meta, and KKR, with direct mentorship from a proven founder.
