Role details
Job description
About Luo
Luo is one of the fastest-growing FX and cross-border payments companies in Africa. We help African businesses pay their international suppliers faster, more transparently, and more competitively than traditional solutions. After becoming a leading player in a few markets in record time, we are now ready to open new markets across the continent.
Role Overview
As a Market Launcher, you will open new markets for Luo in Africa. This role comes with a lot of ambiguity. You'll land in a new country with a few clients, no team, and no established processes. Your job is to figure it out, fast. You need to thrive in that kind of environment. The mission: launch the market, prove demand, build momentum, and grow it to the point where we hire a dedicated local team to take over.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and evaluate new African markets for expansion (regulatory landscape, demand, competition, payment infrastructure).
- Develop and execute a go-to-market plan for each new country.
- Be the first commercial presence on the ground: prospect, pitch, and sign the first clients.
- Build relationships with local partners, banks, and regulators as needed.
- Set up the operational and commercial foundations for a sustainable local business.
- Grow the market to the point where it justifies a local team.
- Feed insights back to HQ to shape product, pricing, and compliance strategy for each market.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience launching or scaling a business in new markets in Africa.
- You genuinely thrive in ambiguity, you don't wait for instructions, you create the path.
- Strong entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable building from zero with limited resources.
- Experience in fintech, FX, payments, or financial services is a strong plus.
- Excellent networking and relationship-building skills across cultures.
- Willingness to travel frequently across the continent.
Why work at Luo

- Remote/Hybrid/Office Policy: Presence in 3 countries (France, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal) with an office in Paris. Likely hybrid – specific policy not publicly detailed.
- Notable Perks/Engineering Culture: Building new‑generation financial rails from scratch; strong emphasis on compliance, speed, and user experience. Employees get to work on real‑world financial inclusion challenges with immediate feedback from actual businesses.
