Job description
Fleetzero is building battery-electric ships and we need more hands on the marketing team this summer and fall.
This is a real-work internship. You will draft content, research, prep events, support campaigns, and handle whatever the team needs to ship that week. You will work directly with the VP of Marketing. The output will be real - not practice projects, not internal decks that never go anywhere.
You will leave with portfolio pieces that shipped.
What We're Looking For
- Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Business, or a related field.
- Strong writing skills, with a natural creative propensity.
- Familiarity with at least one of: social media management, content production, graphic design, or marketing analytics.
- High agency: you figure things out, ask smart questions, and don't need to be managed.
- Interest in maritime, energy, defense, or deep tech. Curiosity about the industry goes a long way.
- Ability to work on-site at our Houston facility.
Bonus Points
- Experience running or contributing to a campus organization's social media or communications.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or video editing software.
- Previous internship or project experience in a startup, agency, or technical industry.
Why work at Fleetzero
- Mission‑driven: Join a team tackling one of the hardest climate challenges – decarbonizing global shipping. The work involves high‑voltage systems, cutting‑edge battery technology, and autonomous robotics.
- Expert team: Work alongside US Navy veterans, seafarers, and seasoned engineers in a hands‑on environment. The culture is described as demanding but rewarding: “The mission is difficult. The hours are long. The work demands skill, discipline, and resolve.”
- Location: Based in Houston, TX. Likely on‑site due to manufacturing and testing.
- Growth trajectory: Early employee at a well‑funded startup with major backers (Maersk, Breakthrough Energy) and clear commercial milestones already achieved.
- Notable perks: Not explicitly listed, but the company emphasizes “white‑glove service with calloused hands” – a blend of high‑engineering and practical maritime experience.
