Job description
About Wahed:
The global financial system wasn't built for everyone. For millions of people, its reliance on interest (riba) creates a barrier to managing money and building wealth without compromising their values.
At Wahed, we're changing that. We are a global fintech company on a mission to build a new financial system—one that is ethical, accessible, and entirely interest-free. From our offices across the globe, our team is building products that were once deemed impossible, from pioneering Shariah-compliant equity ETFs, creating true riba-free alternatives to high yield savings accounts, to creating no-leverage real estate investments for truly interest-free income producing assets. If you're driven to solve complex problems and believe finance should empower, not exclude, join us in building a more equitable financial future.
Job Description:
- Run and monitor daily operational processes across investment and banking products, including payments, card settlements, account opening, and Instant Access withdrawals.
- Perform daily reconciliations between internal ledgers, banking partners, and card processors, investigating and resolving reconciliation breaks promptly.
- Manage daily bank and cash reconciliations, identifying discrepancies and ensuring timely resolution.
- Review flagged transactions and withdrawals, applying appropriate risk and compliance controls with the accuracy and judgment required for regulated financial products.
- Handle trade accounting, trade settlements, and investment transaction reconciliations.
- Identify operational issues, coordinate timely resolution, and escalate unresolved or critical matters to the relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor daily operational queues and ensure transactions and exceptions are processed within defined SLAs.
- Prepare accurate weekly and month-end operational reports.
- Perform transaction fee and expense calculations and reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Use data analysis tools such as SQL and Metabase to track operational performance, identify trends, and drive process improvements.
- Collaborate with Customer Support, Risk, Compliance, Finance, Product, and external banking partners to investigate and resolve complex operational cases end-to-end.
- Assist with internal and external audit queries by providing relevant records, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.
- Develop, maintain, and update SOPs, process documentation, and operational runbooks for existing and new processes, ensuring all process changes are appropriately reviewed, approved, documented, and communicated to relevant stakeholders.
Job Specification:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in banking operations, middle-office operations, and/or a related financial services role.
- Working knowledge of bank and cash reconciliations, ledger management, payment processing, and card settlement operations.
