Job description

About BRINC: At BRINC, we are building the technology that will define the future of emergency response. As a vertically integrated U.S. drone technology company, BRINC designs and manufactures unmanned aircraft systems, autonomous drone stations, command-and-control software, and advanced autonomy for public safety. Today, BRINC deploys Drone as First Responder (DFR) networks that dispatch drones directly to 911 calls, providing real-time aerial intelligence before ground units arrive and helping first responders make faster, safer decisions. BRINC serves more than 1,000 public safety customers across all 50 states, is the sole drone supplier to Motorola Solutions, and has raised more than $280 million from leading strategic and technology investors, including Motorola Solutions, Index Ventures, Sam Altman, Dylan Field, and others. BRINC is recruiting exceptional engineers to build the next generation of autonomous emergency-response technology, including flight-critical firmware and advanced pilot-assistance capabilities.

About this Role: We are looking for an R&D Technician to support the development, testing, and refinement of our cutting-edge drones and public safety products. In this role, you will work hands-on with prototypes, conduct experiments, troubleshoot hardware issues, and collaborate closely with engineers to bring innovative concepts to life. Your expertise in electronics assembly, fabrication, testing, and problem-solving will be critical in accelerating product development and ensuring high-quality performance in real-world conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical components for drones and other public safety products.
  • Conduct experiments and performance tests, collecting and analyzing data to support R&D initiatives.
  • Work closely with engineers to refine prototypes, provide feedback, and iterate on designs.
  • Operate and maintain lab equipment, tools, and test rigs to support development efforts.
  • Document test results, procedures, and findings to improve product design and reliability.
  • Assist with component fabrication using techniques such as 3D printing, CNC machining, and soldering.
  • Support field testing, including setup, monitoring, and data collection.
  • Ensure safety protocols and best practices are followed in all R&D activities.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in a hardware R&D or prototyping environment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, including troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience with tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, soldering irons, and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.

Preferred Skills

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology, Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience working with UAVs, robotics, or autonomous systems..
  • Knowledge of material properties, adhesives, and fasteners for hardware development.
  • Experience with environmental and stress testing for ruggedized hardware.

BRINC Culture Values:

  • Try the hard stuff
  • Be innovative - Invent the future
  • Move fast
  • Listen to end-users
  • Strive for excellence
  • Don’t build a dystopia
