Job description

ABOUT BASE

Base is America’s next-generation power company. We’re rebuilding the foundation of modern civilization–electricity–by deploying a vast network of distributed batteries that is transforming today’s fragile, centralized grid into a resilient and abundant system. We are engineers, operators, and creatives solving some of the most complex, interdisciplinary challenges of our time.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Base Power is looking for a self-motivated Sales Development Representative with high EQ and a natural inclination for selling to help accelerate our growth. Individuals who are eager to learn, embrace challenges, and passionate about succeeding will thrive in this role. You will be the first point of contact for potential customers, responsible for rapidly responding to inbound leads and scheduling qualified appointments for our Energy Advisors. You will play a crucial role in our sales process by quickly assessing the needs of leads, engaging in meaningful conversations, and effectively communicating the value of our offerings.

What You'll Do

  • Promptly respond to all inbound leads generated through various channels to drive engagement and move prospects down the funnel.
  • Schedule qualified appointments for Energy Advisors, ensuring accurate information is captured and communicated.
  • Reach prospects via outbound campaigns and demonstrate that you are proficient and creative in the communication technology space.
  • Provide insights to Marketing and work together to set up successful campaigns that drive meetings and engagement.
  • Conduct thorough initial assessments to understand lead needs and pain points, engaging in meaningful conversations to determine their suitability for our solutions.
  • Accurately record all lead interactions and updates in our CRM system, tracking and reporting on key performance indicators.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and address lead inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner.

What You'll Bring

  • 0-2 years of experience in a high volume sales role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build rapport and establish trust quickly.
  • Strong understanding of the sales process and sales methodologies.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of inbound leads efficiently.
  • Highly responsive, proactive, and customer-focused.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and resilience.

Preferred Skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g. HubSpot).
  • Team player motivated by the mission who always puts the company’s best interests first.
  • Experience in energy storage, solar, or retail energy.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is a plus.

About the Team

The Sales team acts as the critical bridge between a homeowner’s initial interest and a ready-to-install battery system. We are the primary educators in the market, responsible for building deep trust with homeowners who are engaging with distributed energy for the first time. We solve the problem of complexity, taking a sophisticated engineering solution and translating it into a clear, no-brainer value proposition for the consumer. This team carries the volume goals for the company, and our ability to operate efficiently directly dictates how fast we can modernize the American grid.

Please note: Base is a startup, which means priorities shift and evolve quickly. Your role may expand or change based on the needs of the business at any given time, so the responsibilities listed may not be exhaustive.

OUR VALUES

  • First Principles Thinking: Question assumptions. Principles > rules.
  • Operate at Base Pace: Focus on what matters, act quickly, and learn by doing.
  • Give & Get Feedback: Be direct, be humble, and maintain a growth mindset.
  • Everyone’s an Owner: Follow through on commitments and own results.
  • Strong Opinions, Loosely Held: Drive clarity and make calls with imperfect information.
  • Committed to the Mission: Rebuilding the grid is a big challenge. We work hard because we care deeply about the impact we’re creating. We work in-person. It’s not a 9-to-5. We are all-in.
  • Fun & Optimism Coexist with Grit: Collaboration and celebration coincide with the intensity of building real things.

DO THE BEST WORK OF YOUR LIFE AT BASE.

Why work at Base Power Company

  • Culture: Described as "intense, fast-paced, and deeply mission-driven." The company demands high output, ownership, and a bias toward action. It's explicitly stated as "not for everyone, and that's by design." This is a high-ownership, low-ambiguity environment.
  • Work Model: On-site at Base HQ in Austin, Texas. Proximity to the product and team is central to how they move fast. "Do I need to be based in Texas? Yes."
  • Hiring Speed: Fast process — aim for 1st conversation to offer in ~2 weeks.
  • Interview Process: 3-4 hour on-site including technical assessments and behavioral/team conversations. Focus on "how [you] approach problems, communicate tradeoffs, and collaborate."
  • Non-traditional backgrounds: Explicitly welcome: "We care about what you've built and how you think, not the logos on your resume. Some of our best people came from non-traditional paths."
