Job description
About Us
Our company is on a mission to reduce food waste and make high-quality, affordable food accessible to everyone. Through our innovative app-based marketplace, we connect shoppers with discounted perishable items while helping retailers turn would-be waste into revenue and meaningful environmental impact. We’re growing quickly across North America and partnering with retailers of all sizes to expand our reach.
If you’re passionate about creating real change for people and the planet, we’d love for you to join us. Your work here will directly contribute to a mission that helps families save money, reduces waste, and builds a more sustainable future.
The Role and Context
Reporting to the Director, Accounting & Financial Operations, you will be responsible for the complete and accurate recording of company transactions in accordance with Canadian GAAP (ASPE) standards. This role combines technical accounting, financial analysis, accounts payable management, process improvement, and month-end close responsibilities. You will be expected to take ownership of assigned accounting tasks/projects, proactively identify and resolve issues, and continuously improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting processes.
We've been at this for 10 years, partnering with major North American retailers across thousands of stores and millions of shoppers, continuously refining a model with strong unit economics and real flywheel dynamics. We're growth stage, well-capitalized by leading investors including General Catalyst and S2G, and at an inflection point in scale.
What You'll Do

- Own the month-end close process end-to-end: journal entries (prepaids, fixed assets, accruals), balance sheet reconciliations, and balance sheet/P&L reviews
- Maintain the general ledger in NetSuite and the chart of accounts, including creation of new GL accounts, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Manage daily and monthly cash reporting and banking activities, including bank and credit card reconciliations, and prepare weekly vendor payment runs
- Manage the monthly partner remittance process
- Maintain a complete, accurate documentation trail for all financial transactions, and proactively partner with the business to ensure transactions are properly recorded
Compliance & Reporting
- Prepare monthly sales tax filings for Canada and US
- Support annual audit and tax filing requests
- Prepare month-end investor and compliance-related financial reporting
Process Improvement & Automation
- Lead process improvement and data clean-up initiatives across corporate accounting — standardizing chart of accounts, reconciliation templates, and reporting workpapers to support scalability and audit readiness
- Identify and drive opportunities to incorporate AI and automation tools into accounting workflows, including report automation
- Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting as required
Experience & Technical Skills
- 4+ years of accounting experience, with a foundation in accounting or financial reporting from industry
- Strong technical knowledge of Canadian GAAP (ASPE) and/or US GAAP/IFRS; experience with US and Canadian sales tax filing preferred; CPA a plus, though not required
- NetSuite proficiency is a must, along with advanced Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) and Google Suite skills
- Familiarity with Tipalti and Float/Ramp a plus; genuine enthusiasm for AI-powered tools such as Claude to build and improve accounting workflows
Mindset & Work Style
- A process improvement mindset, with a track record of identifying inefficiencies and building better ways of working
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and ramp quickly in a fast-moving environment
- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a positive, collaborative, team-player attitude
