The Role: The Senior/Lead Data Engineer will design, code, and support machine learning pipelines, data pipelines, and data stores for advertising applications, solve problems, collaborate with team members, and work to support manual and automated testing in an engineer-led continuous deployment environment by performing the following duties: What You'll Do:

  • Design and develop scalable data pipelines and data architectures using Databricks, following best practices for performance, reliability, and privacy preservation.
  • Write clean, well-tested, and expressive Python, SQL, and Apache Spark code.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective data solutions.
  • Optimize data pipelines and queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
  • Write and maintain unit tests and code coverage reports, supporting frequent releases with a bug rate below 5%.
  • Contribute to prototyping, test-driven development, CI/CD practices, pull request reviews, ticket tracking, and acceptance testing.

Who You Are:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering.
  • Hands-on professional experience with Databricks is required.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and Python is required.
  • Strong knowledge of Apache Spark and distributed data processing is required.
  • Take ownership of components of the data platform from design and development through deployment, maintenance, and continuous improvement.
  • You are comfortable learning new languages, tools, and systems, sharing ideas and technical knowledge with the team, and communicating challenges or asking for help when needed.
  • Actively participate or lead team meetings, code reviews, pair programming, and mentor junior engineers.
  • Work with product owners, analysts, designers, and other developers to estimate the size and scope of assigned work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university with a degree in computer science, math, or related STEM field; 5 or more years related experience and/or training with Go, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python application development; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience building data pipelines with Apache Spark and deploying machine learning models.
