Job description

Join our global force of 400+ innovators, blending the latest in tech with the greatest in soundtracking, from our Stockholm HQ to offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Oslo, and Seoul. We're an industry leader with a startup mentality. We take what we do seriously, but we don't take ourselves too seriously. Creating and collaborating to transform the sound of streaming, content, and culture. Come join us, and let the world feel your work.

We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Payments team in Stockholm. We're a small team that owns everything that happens when someone pays Epidemic Sound: checkout, subscriptions, invoicing, refunds, tax, and payment provider integrations happens through systems we build and run. We work in short iterations where our changes bring immediate customer value.

Our main initiative is a new purchase platform in Go: a greenfield subscription domain, built alongside today's system, including a seamless migration of live paying customers onto our new system. You'll help set and implement this technical direction.

We’re a small and collaborative team that owns services end to end, from domain model to Terraform, on-call included. You'll work closely with Product, Finance, and the web teams whose checkout journeys sit on our APIs. AI is part of our daily toolchain, which puts more weight on judgement: we read as much code as we write.

Your key responsibilities include

  • Own payment and subscription services end to end: design, build, deploy and monitor them.
  • Build the next generation of our purchase platform in Go, and move live subscriptions onto it safely.
  • Build and maintain our payment provider integrations, including the compliance-heavy parts like 3DS and SCA.
  • Work in the customer-facing purchase flow in our web codebase (TypeScript) when needed.

Requirements

  • Several years building and running backend services in production, ideally in a space where correctness mattered more than shipping speed.
  • Strong in Go or Python, and happy to get productive in the other. Our services are built in both.
  • Good in SQL and relational data modelling. We use Postgres.
  • Cloud experience, preferably Google Cloud, and comfortable owning your own infrastructure (Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform).
  • Enough TypeScript and React to make changes in a shared frontend codebase, or a real interest in picking it up.
  • Experience with payments, or a clear interest in it: subscriptions, billing, provider integrations, reconciliation, etc.

It would also be music to our ears if you have

  • Migrated a billing or payment platform with live customers on it.
  • Worked with PSPs, card networks, 3DS and SCA, or inside PCI scope.
  • Experience building event-driven services using Pub/Sub or a comparable messaging system.
  • Practical experience applying AI coding agents in production, and sound judgement about when to rely on them.

Equal opportunity employer

We believe that bringing people together from different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives makes for a healthy workplace, a more successful business and a better world. We value diversity and encourage everyone to come and soundtrack the world with us.
