Job description

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Software Test Engineer to contribute to the quality and testing of Point of Sale (POS) and enterprise retail solutions. Working as part of an Agile engineering team, this role translates client requirements, technical designs, and user scenarios into clear manual and automated tests that verify solution quality.

The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience with test design, execution, defect management, test environments, and automation tools. This is a mid-level individual contributor role expected to independently deliver assigned test work, communicate risks clearly, and collaborate with development, product, and senior test engineers. The role does not carry formal test leadership or team-management responsibilities.

Key Responsabilities

  • Analyze software designs, functional specifications, client requirements, user scenarios, and existing test coverage to identify required validation.
  • Design and maintain manual and automated test cases for functional, integration, regression, API, exploratory, and solution-level testing.
  • Execute tests, document results, report defects with complete evidence, and track issues through resolution and verification.
  • Assess test coverage for assigned features and identify gaps, dependencies, environment needs, and quality risks.
  • Provide estimates for environment setup, test design, test execution, and related testing activities.
  • Set up and maintain physical and virtual test environments, including required hardware, software, data, configuration, and containerized components.
  • Use established automation frameworks and tools to create and maintain automated test scenarios and improve repeatability.
  • Participate in backlog refinement, sprint planning, design reviews, requirements discussions, daily standups, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
  • Collaborate with developers, product teams, DevOps, and other test engineers to clarify expected behavior and resolve technical issues.
  • Communicate test progress, defects, risks, dependencies, and mitigation needs to project leads and managers.
  • Create and maintain test plans, traceability artifacts, installation procedures, environment documentation, and reusable test assets.
  • Support release-readiness, deployment validation, and post-release investigation for assigned solution areas.
  • Keep current with testing practices, technologies, and tools that can improve test effectiveness and engineering productivity.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 to 5 years of professional software test engineering or quality engineering experience.
  • Solid understanding of software test methodologies, test layers, quality practices, and the software development lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience with test design, test execution, coverage analysis, defect reporting, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Experience working within Agile development teams and using Agile work-management tools.
  • Experience testing APIs and using automation or test tools such as Selenium, Cucumber, Jenkins, Postman, TestNG, or equivalent technologies.
  • Working programming or scripting skills sufficient to understand and use established automation frameworks.
  • Basic working knowledge of Linux commands and file systems.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting software test environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including professional English proficiency.
