About the Role

OpenLoop’s mission is to bring care anywhere by powering telehealth solutions at scale. OpenLoop is looking for a Senior Director of Tax to join our team remotely. In this role, you will lead company-wide tax strategy, planning, and compliance. You will build and scale the tax function to support rapid growth, manage tax risk, and strengthen controls across a complex, multi-entity healthcare business.

What You'll Do

  • Develop and execute a company-wide tax strategy, establishing policies, controls, and reporting that support growth, tax compliance, and acquisition integration.
  • Oversee federal, state, and local income and franchise tax compliance, estimated payments, and tax calendars across corporate and affiliated entities, coordinating with external advisors and internal teams.
  • Lead tax planning and partner with Accounting on income tax provisions, deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, and related financial statement disclosures under ASC 740.
  • Manage sales and use tax, property tax, nexus assessments, registrations, and exemption certificate processes; oversee taxability assessments for existing and new business lines and implement necessary updates to billing and payment systems; coordinate with Payroll on employment tax matters.
  • Establish and oversee domestic and international transfer pricing policies for intercompany services, management fees, and financing arrangements, including supporting agreements, benchmarking, documentation, and ongoing implementation in partnership with Legal and external advisors.
  • Lead tax audits and inquiries, evaluate tax law changes, and identify credits, incentives, and other planning opportunities while maintaining appropriate documentation and risk controls.
  • Lead tax due diligence and integration for acquisitions, including transaction structuring, assessment of inherited tax exposures, and integration of tax compliance processes in partnership with Legal and external advisors.
  • Build and develop the tax team, manage external advisors, and build tax systems and reporting to scale operations and support audit readiness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA required. A master’s degree in Taxation or an MBA is a plus.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in corporate tax, including leadership in a high-growth, multi-entity organization and responsibility for tax strategy, planning, and compliance.
  • Big 4 public accounting experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. federal and multistate taxation, tax accounting under ASC 740, and indirect tax compliance; experience managing external tax advisors and audits.
  • Proven success building scalable tax processes, developing teams, and improving tax reporting in a complex operating environment.
  • Experience in healthcare or digital health preferred; familiarity with affiliated professional entities and related tax considerations is a plus.
  • Experience supporting tax due diligence, transaction structuring, and acquisition integration; public company or public company readiness experience is required.
  • Experience managing both U.S. domestic and international tax matters is required, including establishing or overseeing transfer pricing policies, documentation, and implementation for intercompany transactions.
  • Proficiency with ERP and tax systems, tax modeling, and reporting; NetSuite experience is a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach, sound judgment, and strong communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
