ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Vehicle Operations & Integration Engineer, you will serve as a key technical contributor supporting 42dot's vehicle fleet, vehicle laboratory, and autonomous vehicle development efforts. Reporting to the Manager of Fleet Operations, you will be responsible for the hands-on integration, validation, maintenance, and operational readiness of development vehicles used for software-defined vehicle, autonomous driving, AI, and data collection programs. This role combines vehicle integration, systems validation, fleet support, prototype development, documentation, and safety leadership. You will work closely with engineering teams across autonomous driving, perception, embedded software, infotainment, and hardware development to ensure that vehicles and test assets are safe, functional, and available for critical R&D activities.
Responsibilities
- Vehicle Integration & Prototype Development Perform installation, integration, and troubleshooting of autonomous driving sensor suites, compute platforms, logging systems, networking equipment, and vehicle instrumentation.
- Support prototype vehicle builds including electrical, mechanical, and software integration activities.
- Assist engineering teams in validating new hardware and software releases prior to vehicle deployment.
- Fabricate and install prototype brackets, harnesses, mounts, and supporting hardware for development vehicles.
- Coordinate vehicle modifications with internal engineering teams and external upfitting vendors.
- Prepare and maintain development vehicles used for autonomous driving, ADAS, machine learning, and perception data collection programs.
- Deploy and validate sensors including cameras, radar, lidar, GNSS, IMU, driver monitoring, and vehicle network interfaces.
- Support vehicle bring-up activities and system-level debugging of integrated autonomous driving platforms.
- Ensure data collection systems are operational and calibrated before field deployments.
- Provide field support during testing activities and vehicle demonstrations.
Qualifications
- Support validation of infotainment systems, connectivity features, embedded software, and vehicle network communications.
- Perform functional testing across CAN, Ethernet, wireless, and vehicle diagnostic interfaces.
- Execute test plans and regression testing for hardware and software releases.
- Document issues and work closely with engineering teams to support root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Verify vehicle functionality following software updates, hardware changes, or prototype modifications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Maintain vehicle readiness through inspections, diagnostics, maintenance coordination, and operational checks.
- Track vehicle status, utilization, maintenance schedules, and equipment inventory.
- Assist with vehicle deployments, logistics, charging schedules, and transportation activities.
